  1. Oh my. Must have been oblivious to this blog as I've only just stumbled upon it. From my quick review there is some lovely stuff here so I'll have to set aside some time tomorrow to view it slowly. That's provided I get the hoovering done, repair the kitchen cabinet light fail, empty the dishwasher and any other jobs SWMBO leaves me to do. Oh it's fun being retired, or I could abscond into my workshop and dream trains. Regards
  2. Thanks Paul. I'll give it another go by drawing my layout with it and test that out. It will be good if larger scenic libraries are forth coming too. Regards

I always took it that those striped cuffs were only worn when directing traffic?
  5. G'day mate nice to have you back from a walk-about. Regards
  6. Hello, I use Anyrail for my track planning and would like to see how it looks in full model form. I've used the odd shoe box or cereal packet but that still doesn't do it for me. I notice that Hugh Flynn often shows a front elevation when he draws some plans but ideally something 3-D would be best, hence me finding this blog. Looking briefly at some of the examples they do seem to be a little "toy-ish" in their drawing but if anyone knows differently or can suggest another option I'd be grateful. Probably means I should just go ahead and finish building it. Regards
  7. Mmmnnnn centre cab Fowler, oh, oh my, interesting but is it different enough or is that its beauty. Regards
  8. Another beaut, makes me believe I could climb on board and throttle up for a days pushing & pulling. A great looking model Giles. Regards

Hello Chaz, exquisite model as I've mentioned before but while accidental damage to a fence can look ok for balance shouldn't there be a little more somewhere else. My thinking being if the rest of the fence is in such good condition the damaged bit would get rapidly repaired. Still a very tasty bit of modelling. Regards
  10. Oh Joy, good looking moves beautifully and sings well, droooools. Regards
  11. Did this happen John if so where did it get listed. Thanks.
  12. Hello Wayne there are several ways to achieve the movement you require, here's one way. This way uses micro-switches but you could front drive it with your slide switches mounted on a sub panel horizontal to the track bed. If you want to use your switched but mounted vertically you would need to fit a fulcrum / bell crank to convert the up-down into a front to back movement. This system is easy made from spokes and choc-blocks and there are various other ways using snakes etc I can show. Nod to Shortliner for this. You may want to have a read through this topic for some ideas. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/54069-manual-point-control/ the link also shows how the bell crank changes the direction of movement.
  13. Merry Christmas & a Happy new year to you Sandy. It's a joy to read and follow your work. Regards
  14. It's different, quite a change from Dock Green. I marked this one down for one to watch and it will be interesting to see how it evolves from the sketches above through some serious design thoughts to reach each finished stage. Keep on posting. Regards
  15. Cheers Paul for that explanation and it was good to speak with you earlier today too. Regards
  16. I was thinking of leaving out the "stay alive" feature but the good work it will do while running probably overrides my concerns. Should it be wanted can it be switched out? Still a fabulous looking model setting the standard on many fronts for the future of the RTR market. Great works all round gents. Regards

Crikey Chaz I didn't think the locos had that much punch. Similar extension stop needed for me then. Thanks

Chaz I too will have a small overhang for my cassettes and I had thought that the cassettes stiffness and a contained end stop would suffice. As you have a stop cross-member at the track end I'm not sure what was being pushed? I'll be DCC too. Expert extension by the way. Regards
  19. Arthur, If you read CLICK HERE TO SEE THE DRAWINGS in the link below it uses words and sketches to explain. Link http://www.winterleyproducts.co.uk/winterleycouplin.html Regards

Some very good photos showing what's necessary at a show from Arrival to unpack, set-up, action performance, knock down, pack up and departure. Anybody got a working sequence video??? Good stuff Chaz. Regards

Yeah I definitely agree ref the ladies Chaz, I always bring my lady to the shows and she often sees things from a different view point which I find interesting. Not sure if I ever brought a layout to dem at a show whether she would want to operate it though. It does take me back to my work days when we would have some away days to brainstorm a business problem. Out of a mixture of UK managers, service eng., technical specialists, secretaries, HR, canteen lady and design eng. it was often the secretary or the canteen lady who asked the most mind probing question, sometimes even suggesting solutions. Not trying to be chauvinistic here just explaining that unexpected others can have an input that us regulars had not thought of. Regards
