  1. D2325 would be a class 03 Their number sequence was D2000 - D2199 and then D2300 on. The 04s were D2200 - D2299
  2. 69001 in foreign territory working the last 5Q55 Stewarts Lane to Newport Sims with two 455s for scrap nos 455804 and 455 819 on 16.08.2022 at Patchway
  3. Actually the pages numbers run from 321 to 689 in THIS volume . Pages 1 to 320 are in Volume 5B Gloucester to Swindon and Branches Part 1 Gloucester to Stroud. As has been stated superb photos but I feel some of the captions are although informative include speculative thoughts by the author which are obviously just that and I find misleading and confusing. I have all the books in the series and await the next one
  4. Does anybody know WHO is actually running Hornby ? My guess is a bean counter who does not understand the hobby. The reply given to 64F is standard corporation gobblygook with an element of truth. Hornby have shot themselves in both feet.
  5. And to cap it all I believe that there is anther series of trumpet blowing sorry Hornby`s Model World or what ever it was called scheduled for later this year. They would be far better taking a long hard look at themselves and getting on with solving all the problems.
  6. I have found that they can be very difficult to get hold of over the phone, with the line being permanently engaged. When I did eventually get through I was told that "They were very busy on the phone" to which I replied What over two days all day????. Not a good first impression.
  7. You can always specify your landline number to receive the authorisation codes. I also receive a large number of cheques for membership renewals and I certainly think that a number of people will NOT bother to renew subs etc if they can only do it on line. Having been in business and seen what credit card companies can charge I always try and use cash on small purchases. In fifty years time when most of us are long gone cash may be a thing of the past.
  8. Catch the A1 from the Airport to the city centre and then the either the T1 or T2 to Thornbury. Busses pass the door. The Thornbury buses do not use the BUS station but start from Bristol The Center stop C11
  9. How many model shops have more than one branch ? Not many You obviously worked for a chain and their polices CAN be and often are different than one man bands who often do not have expensive EPS systems.
  10. No as you cannot operate a two tier pricing rule. It is far easier to reprice the residual stock as it balances out the cost of the new items ordered at the new cost price. Anyway if you had 10 of the same kit in stock why would you order more?
  11. Model shops are not as big as Amazon. I still stand by what I said
  12. You would pay the new rate of VAT on ANY sales made from day one of the new rate, regardless of how old the stock is.
  13. It does not always work in the simplified way that you state. If you have a fast moving line you are constantly topping up there would always be a few items left at the old price so they would be repriced as a matter of course. As has been said sound business sense .
  14. So it is not just a British complaint then
  15. Only due to engineering works. Bristol Temple Meads was without a direct service to Padd for a week when the up grade was on
  16. Not at all. Everybody thinks they can do better than the people in charge when things go wrong and are quick to assume that they know all the answers. Don`t forget we are still coming out of a pandemic and that there are staff shortages and other related problems. Do we want headlines like the ones published in the Sun years ago saying "It only takes two weeks to train train drivers so why can`t we do it ". There was a national outcry. People are only human beings and EVERBODY makes mistakes . So before ranting and raving take into account all the circumstances involved. Also don`t forget that an element of instructions/advice given out don`t apply to me and I am the only passenger that matters comes into play from a minority, and that the situation can change minute by minute.
  17. fiftyfour fiftyfour said: GWR management should resign, starting with Hopwood. The media should be all over this, there was NO engineering at all at any location between Bristol and London yesterday, all lines were open. Could you do any better??? I doubt it
  18. If you look closely it is not BS64 but GS64 compare the writing to the entry for GS50
  19. Why blame Gaugemaster ? They can only supply the parts that Heljan supply them with.
  20. Last time I saw this unit it was a low loader on the Severn Bridge
  21. What about a good old fashioned Atlas . Cheap enough at £4.00 from a number of places.
