  1. Not sure if this has been posted before, found on another forum under the Darwin Awards thread! :-) Delivery driver antics
  2. Silverfox17, a couple of years ago I was gifted some boxes of various models which would otherwise have ended up in a skip. Among the items were some lengths of grey track as shown in the pic, ( R93 x 3, R96 x 6, R102 x 1, R106 x8, R107 x 1). I doubt that I will ever use them, so if these would be of any interest to you, please message me.
  3. This has reminded me of an incident from my youth. I grew up on the Dee estuary in North Wales, and some of the LMS lines to the west of Holywell Junction were used for stock storage in the offpeak season. My dad was a retained fireman and was called out to a major blaze at one of the stored rakes of coaches. The pic reminded me that there were a few greenhouses and cold-frames with those windows and a maroon paint finish on our estate after that! :-)
  4. While sorting in my garage today, looking for something else, came across this Jinty. I think I picked it up at a Frome show a few years ago, I think I haggled the price down a bit! Body is distorted and pick-ups a bit dodgy but it does run, and not as slow and jerky as expected. Inspired by this thread, now pondering on the possibilities, thinking about an industrial diesel perhaps.
  5. Nice pics, Jim. One thing puzzled me, as I have driven the A835 many a time on the way to Ullapool for the ferry, and I couldn't recall a rock shelter on that route. I think you may mean this one on the A890 between Attadale and Stromeferry. Excellent pics anyway, enjoyed seeing the scenery and looking forward to a trip to Lossiemouth the week after next. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Scotland.
  6. Many thanks for the replies. I do not have any information regarding the provenance of the photo, if anything comes to light I will post it here. It is a shame the plate on the cab is not legible, and that no number is carried. Thanks again.
  7. This photo of an unidentified locomotive appeared recently in our local free paper. It is believed to have been taken at Westbury Ironworks, but there is no further information. I think it has some features of a Hawthorn-Leslie machine, but any help in identifying it would be appreciated.
  8. Can I add my thanks for this tip. A package of three units arrived today. Not sure yet what will become of them, although one may be the power unit for a freelance version of a LNWR railmotor. Will be something to do during my self-isolation. :-)
  9. Many thanks for all the replies, all very interesting information. I will relay that back to the other forum. Cheers.
  10. This pic of Flint Dock in 1928 was posted to another forum I frequent. Shame that the loco is hidden by the van body in the foreground. I'm guessing that it may be a Fowler or Ruston 0-4-0. Any other candidates?
  11. Not in either of the Bristol or Bath Hobbycraft stores . :-(
  12. This was in the link in the original post. " Two “malicious obstructions” were left on tracks near Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, on 21 March and at Netherfield, Nottinghamshire, on 27 March. They bore the slogans “Government betrayal. Leave means leave” and “We will bring this country to its knees if we don’t leave”, which were printed, not handwritten."
  13. I know it's the Grauniad reporting, but this is a worrying development if it spreads. "Two devices left on rail lines in suspected pro-Brexit sabotage plot Police investigate ‘malicious obstructions’ that were meant to disrupt train service"
  14. Very elaborate though.. Go-Op have been plugging it for a few years now. :-)
