That's on my patch, the photograph is taken from Milley Bridge and the last house in Waltham St Lawrence on Milley Road is actually next to the bridge and The Bell Inn less than a mile down the road. Most photters would recognise that location as Waltham St Lawrence, I've never heard anyone call it Ruscombe. Ruscombe church is 1¼ miles away adjacent to Southbury Lane, the tall bridge in the background which for some reason I always tag as Ruscombe rather than Southbury Lane. There were some wonderful combinations of units in their final days before the Turbo takeover and not just 117/121 but also various bits of 101/104/108/115 and even a 119/121 combo. If it worked it got used and whenever they ran out of DMUs there were locos plus short rakes of coaches.

Mini Jumbos do sometimes run, this was 7A09 Merehead-Acton on 27th August 2009 with just the Acton portion. Graham

59001 ran for a while in 2008 carrying an incorrect very pale green AI livery. Before repainting to the current version had test patches added on both sides. And 59203 had HUGE numbers on one end in EWS livery. Graham

As noted in post 467 I didn't have a dispatch note from Revolution and my account wasn't changed to complete. I got the tracking information from the number on the parcel itself, the two had different tracking numbers. So at some point you'll get a nice surprise, just like it used to be! Graham

Pleased to report Parcelforce delivered parcel 1 of 2 today, tracking shows Reading Depot looked after it over the weekend! EWS light grey ones this time, they certainly brighten up the rake of drab grey VTGs. Graham

Same here, my website order still says processing so wasn't expecting anything yet but part of my order arrived this morning. Box says 2 of 2 so assume 1 of 2 is somewhere enroute, maybe! Just wish I had the space for multiple rakes of these superb models. Graham

Ordered a to be VTG'd green Freightliner one yesterday lunchtime from Trains4U, arrived just 23 hours later, excellent service. Awaiting despatch of my bulk order from Revolution. Very much a top class product, the etched walkways are amazing. Great work to the Revolution/Rapido team for getting these made. Graham

Caution if you remove the bogies for any reason as they are retained by tiny washers under the screws. On some of mine the retaining screws were rather loose and one had come off in the box. I couldn't find the washer though unusually a couple of days later the floor monster gave up its catch so all hunky-dory again. Looks like the bogies were designed to use a retaining screw with an integral washer but the actual arrangement gives very free rotation. Another very nice well detailed wagon from Dapol, note each bogie has four separate parts added and carry what appear to be axle numbers. I'm impressed they manage all this added detail at the very reasonable price. And the lamp brackets are on the outer ends! Graham

That would work, I have done similar with model aircraft kits but using steel pins. I've got seven sets, not sure my eyesight or sanity would survive drilling out 14 stub ends though! Graham

The body moulding includes the buffer beams so not an option. I've had a rummage through my spares box and all the NEM coupler bars I have are too short. I investigated cutting those supplied and fitting shortened halves together in a brass tube but they would then be too large in diameter, they look correct as they come. Telescopic coupler bars? Graham

Thank you Dapol for some more very nice Freightliner wagons, well finished and free running. Plenty of weight though I reckon they're a tad lighter than the IOA and JNA. You get two coupler bars per set, I got four with one pair! Careful with the wheels as a few of mine dropped out, they may have been dislodged in transit but the bogie frames had spread slightly. The only silly fault is the tail lamp brackets are on the inner ends! Shame as they are really neatly done. Bodyside buffer beam fillets are too short as are the buffer heads and I don't think those little hoops on the buffer beams should be on the inner ends, not there in my 2005 photos, but easily removed. Dapol fit CCMs but for some strange reason continue to set the couplers as if they weren't. 9.5 out of 10 and good value. Graham

Don't you dare release these in 00, especially the EWS, DBS and VTG/MRL liveries! Otherwise I'll have to find a larger home! Graham

The MJAs were built 2003/4 by Wagony Swidnica and were certainly in service by February 2005 when I photographed a loaded set working from Bristol Kingsland Road to Harlow Mill at West Drayton. Graham

No longer in the cripple siding. Dealer had sold out but Dapol have supplied wheelsets and included the bogie too. Graham

Dapol back to their best with these, hopefully the MJAs will be to the same standard. I do however seem have a little problem as one of mine won't roll and I can't quite see what the issue is Graham

59005 had the later arrangement though lost its no2 end pod late 2012/early 2013. Not correct for the proposed 59002 though. Graham

I've used Microscale liquid decal film http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MI-12& with success on old decals that were breaking up. Just followed the instructions. Graham

From Freight Only volume 2(Rhodes/Shannon). January 1988 6O36 1726 Ince & Elton- Gillingham passed Salisbury 0622, return 6M22 1614 Gillingham-Ince & Elton at 1647 on Fridays. Photo shows 47349 leaving Andover siding 21/8/87 on 6M22 with 4 OCA plus 11 PWA and a note the OCAs are increasingly being used for 'big bag' traffic(PDS). I recall seeing OCAs loaded with large Fertiliser bags around March in the 1980s. Graham

Thanks Arran, the Nurse will call when it's your turn Very nice looking wagons from Hornby and I'm glad they've done the more common Tiphook version seen in Freightliner and DBS intermodals plus the latter's MoD services. The fixed spigots are a bit of a pain, other than those supplied the only containers I have that fit are Dapol 20' on the outer positions. Sockets on Arran's wonderful boxes and tanks are a little bit wider apart than the spigots. Bachmann superheight 20' just go on the ends but anything else will need to have holes drilled to accommodate the extra mountings. The supplied 20' containers are difficult to fit on the centre position, I think the cutouts for the central spigots aren't quite big enough and mounts possibly a tad too close together. Bit tight fitting boxes door to door too. A welcome addition to the intermodal fleet, all those spare Bachmann spigots may well come in useful now. That's if I can find the safe place I put them! Failing that Mr P can supply those for the FLAs Graham

From my 1980s fotting days on the Cambridge line Stansted handled BP jet fuel for the airport. Cambridge had Charringtons at Brooklands Avenue, Esso Coldhams Lane and BP Barnwell Jn. On the GWML in the 1990s there was a Thameshaven-Littlemore(on the Oxford-Princes Risborough line) that one time split in Hinksey Yard with a portion for Banbury and another possibly Didcot loco, kept a Class 47 busy all day. The Oxford-Risborough line is still part open and serves the BMW Mini plant at Cowley.

In latter years Quidhampton used the 2003 Swidnica built TEAs as in the photo at Salisbury rather than the earlier and rather different AFR ones to be modelled by Dapol. The last TEAs were moved out of Quidhampton on 14/10/09 using D1015. Pre working to Wembley on 6M44 the Quiddies were conveyed on 6S65 via Didcot that was usually Class 58 hauled and before that ran to Willesden as a dedicated train behind a Class 56. Don't know when the switch from AFR ICAs to Swidnica TEAs took place. I think I'll 're-open' Quidhampton and run a pair of ICAs on a WCML Enterprise along with Heljan Cargowaggons and the forthcoming Bachmann IPAs
