  1. Hi all, I model the late 80s, no specific region but most interested in ECML traffic in Yorkshire and WCML traffic in the West Midlands. I have gotten hold of one of Bachmann's 37 041s in BR Blue. I have seen a video of a BR Blue Class 37/0 on the ECML in the late 80s but didn't catch the number. Which blue 37s were still around in the late 80s please? And when did the 37s lose their buffer beam cowlings? Thanks
  2. You used to be able to get the skirt to fit the Hornby DVT as a resin cast from a seller on eBay. Keep an eye out
  3. Hi all, I'm in the process of repainting some Lima and Jouef Mk3s to make up a CrossCountry HST. Beyond coach numbers from Railtec there isn't anything anywhere - certainly no logos or data panels or First Class 1s or coach letters. Does anyone know anywhere I can get them from please? I've already contacted Fox and Railtec who cannot help. Thanks, and happy modelling.
  4. Stunning mate - really taking shape and love watching your stock going around.
  5. Waited for a set of these for a long time but sadly at that price I will probably have to pass.
  6. Could you not contact Hornby directly for a warranty repair? You used to be able to do this.
  7. Lima HST, Lima Mk3, Lima 101, Lima 121 Jouef Mk3 Mainline/Replica Mk1 RBRs Mainline/Dapol 56
  8. How did you space the track please? Manually or do you have some sort of jig? What do you plan on doing with the point work sleeper spacing? Thanks and keep up the fantastic work. The layout is going to be immense.
  9. I don't have a layout. I've pre-bought a stupid number of things
  10. There are 2 Northern Belle Mk3 sleepers - Crewe and Balmoral. My guess is the original owner wanted to rename it and the decals weren't available. Might be an opportunity for you to have something a little different.
  11. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/72134-hst-roof-ventsfans/ They did change further when the engines were replaced.
  12. Also Northfields Model Shop right by Northfields tube station
  13. Ok great thank you. Still looking through loads of photos to see the differences. From the link Bomag put up it looks like I'll be modelling XC04. Right mix of LHCS and HST trailers for the coaches I've collected. My understanding of HSTs is that all the underframes should line up the same way, so the TGS should dictate the underframe orientation. What happens with the LCHS underframes as are they not different to the HST trailers? Are all the TCCs exactly identical?
  14. Why are they split into XC01-03 and XC04-05? Is there an operational or formation reason? Also thanks for the link Bomag - so the disabled TSs have been reclassified to TSDs. May make it easier to search for photos.
  15. Presumably you mean there are 5 AXC HST sets? 01-03 and 04-05? What services two the two groups of sets provide? And are you able to give me any more details of their formations please? Thanks
  16. From what I can see Mk3 coaches have two different types of roof vents on the ends. The Mk3As have roe vacs.?Mk3Bs and HST Mk3s and the Mk3 based Class 442 have plenum chambers. in tho photo below the coach on the left has roe vacs and the one on the right has plenum chambers: https://farm6.static.flickr.com/5628/23149300113_4fec4b117d_b.jpg
  17. Hi guys, I wanted to recreate a prototypical Arriva CrossCountry HST. I was looking at photos of the TCC and noticed it appears to have been based on a Mk3a with roe vacs and then noticed some detail differences on the other Mk3s as well. I was wanting to catalogue the details in one place and was hoping that someone with more knowledge could fill in any gaps please: TF - appear to all have plenum chambers. The toilet windows at one end appear to have been plated over TCC - appear to all have roe vacs. On one side there is one standard class window and two blanked out windows for the buffet counter. On the opposite side the standard class toilet has had the central bar removed and seating goes all the way up to the vestibule. TS- mix of plenum chambers and roe vacs. One coach in each take appears to have its toilet window and one passenger window plated over on one side. Is this the disabled coach? Is that the disabled toilet? TGS - appears unmodified. As a separate question, how come so many LHCS Mk3s have needed to be converted for HST use? We don't have any more DMBs so where has the need for extra coaches come from? I've even seen FGW rakes with converted prototype HST Mk3s and one photo which had a rake with two TGSs in it! Is the network really that short of stock? Thanks in advance.
  18. Hi guys. Hope you're all well. I'm on the hunt for some Bachmann 221 boxes please. I'm after outer boxes (one of each style) and one set of complete packaging (either style). Also I'm after some cheap Jouef Mk3 TSOs for a project. Paint condition not imported but must be complete and preferably boxes. Thanks, Happy modelling!
  19. Cloud wall paper for a plain sky background? (Not my idea - read about it on here.)
  20. I've had them in the same rake as Bachmann's BRA wagons and I don't think they look out of place. My BRA wagons are in storage at present however so I'm not able to get some comparison shots on those for you at the moment.
  21. Hi there, Not sure if this is exactly the same wagon type, but if not hopefully gives you an idea. Pictured alongside a Heljan Cargowaggon. Happy modelling, S.
  22. Given how expensive wheels are now you probably get your money back by not having to rewheel the RailRoad ones.
  23. Thank you both. I wish I'd stripped the paint from the coach BEFORE I bothered to start the conversion though! The plasticard fell apart whilst stripping it of paint lol. Oh well, live and learn! I have a couple of bargain Lima derived Hornby TGSs on order from Hattons to make 977993 and 977994, and I'm planning on how to go about making a couple of other coaches to make a full 5 car set.
