  1. Today we can sort the buffet for Saturday. Cottams pork pies (local bakery), M&S sausage rolls, mini pies, honey glazed sausages and mince pies. Hopefully our superb cake maker Mo has been burning the midnight oil preparing her superb cakes for Saturday. Its not all about playing trains !! Stan.
  2. Next Saturday sees our last get together of 2019 14th December starting at 1pm Corpus Christie Church Hall, Alfred Street, Rainford, Merseyside WA11 8BY. We will have layouts in 009, 09, 7mm and Gn15 and Crummack Valley in 009 will be available for visitors to operate and you are welcome to bring along stock. Show you how stands by, Allen Doherty (Worsley Works), Brian Davis, Les Nehlrich and Peter Leyland. We will have the sales tables for you to find bargains. Free Parking. Refreshments will be available. Come and join us and be part of the largest NG group who have regular get togethers in the UK. Stan.
  3. Just a reminder that the Merseyside & South West Lancs Group hold their last get together of 2019 on Saturday 14th December starting at 1pm. We will be in the Corpus Christie Church Hall, Alfred Street, Rainford, Merseyside WA11 8BY. A host of Narrow Gauge layouts in various scales/gauges supplemented by the show you how stands. We will also have the group sales tables available. Refreshments. Free Parking.   4. Rainhill NG was a roaring success along with the Rainhill MRC show. The halls were really busy for most of the day. From what I have heard, traders were happy too. Plans are already in place for our North West Narrow Gauge Show on Saturday 15th February 2020 All Saints Parish Hall, Church Road, Rainford, Merseyside WA11 8HE open 10am to 5pm Great layouts, Trade Stands and show you how stands along with the 009 Society Sales Stand. If you are serious about Narrow Gauge modelling put this date in your diaries. Stan.
  5. Well the forecast is to be dry and sunny, but frosty first thing, so no difference to the guys who get out of bed on the wrong side !! Setting up starts this evening, looking forward to an early bacon roll in the morning, to set us up for the day. Easy venue to get to, Rainhill Station is just across the main road. Lots of parking around the hall area, the early bird gets to park closest. Refreshments available all day and at very reasonable prices without you having to take out a mortgage !! We finish off the day by going for a Ruby Murray at the local restaurant !! Stan.

  7. Hi Ian, The Merseyside & South West Lancs group have a small layout 4 x 2ft based on Glynceriog station. If you go into the Wigan Finescale exhibition photo gallery you would be able to see a number of photos of the layout taken at this years show. Well worth a look. Stan.
  8. We run from 1pm to approx 4.30pm Some stay for the whole afternoon others come for a couple of hours. Always layouts to play trains on and we have more than one scale/gauge from 009, 09, 5.5mm, 7mm and above. The sales stand always has stock to sell and visitors can come along and bring items to sell on. Stan.

  10. Rainhill Narrow Gauge is creeping up fast and we will start setting up on Friday Evening. Layouts, Trade and Sales Tables. The 009 Society Publicity Stand will be on hand and willing to take your hard earned cash to join the Society with all its benefits. We have a number of 009 rolling stock kits available. Brand new 009 locos and secondhand stock and N gauge chassis, lineside items and buildings. Please remember we can only accept cash. Stan.

Bargains, locos, rolling stock, N gauge chassis for those white metal kits lingering in the cupboard, plus lots more. We will be upstairs in the Teak Room.   12. Another 7 days and we will be setting up fora double exhibition £3.50 gets you to see Two Shows. That saving will help you purchase some great refreshments at very reasonable prices. Warley is just around the corner, but Rainhill Narrow gauge is on the horizon, so if you are not going down to the Midlands book your place at Rainhill and come along and spend a few hours with like minded NG modellers. Our friends in the Rainhill MRC will be holding their own show in the main hall, so two shows for the one entry fee of £3.50. The ladies in the kitchen do superb food at very reasonable prices and its available all day. Rainhill Station is just across the main road and there is plenty of parking around the Hall. Have a Free ride on a Vintage Bus. Layouts, Trade, Society Stands and the Sales Tables. Come and have a chat, a brew and just relax yourself with a fantastic hobby. Stan.
  14. A number of people have used the Dundas VOR coaches and turned them into open coaches. The 4 wheel open wagons are available and there was the odd cattle wagon (Nine Lines). 4 wheel brake vans still available. (wooden sided). Someone also produced the Hafan open wagon. The more modern coaches produced by Chivers have long been out of production. Stan.

Just two weeks to go before we open the the doors for Rainhill Narrow gauge Show Saturday 30th November open 10am to 5pm We will be in the upstairs Teak Room and there is a lift available for anyone who would struggle with stairs. The 5.5mm NG Assoc. Modular Group Radio Control demo layout by Frank Allen. French WW1 layout by Jim Hodgkiss which will also include a display of the late Roy Hirsts WW1 rolling stock. A1 Models will have a stand. The Rainhill MRC will have their own exhibition in the Main Hall with lots going on Two shows for the price of £3.50 Plenty of parking around the Hall and Rainhill Station is just across the road.
