  1. Regular goods workings ,stopping passenger trains......in fact,if you want to define Flanders & Swann's 'On The Slow Train' then a New Street-Temple Meads 'stopper' is for you.....Bredon, Eckington,Defford ,Wadborough etc. etc...Vintage 4F stuff.....numbingly boring at the time but now remembered with tearful nostalgia.....great view of Bredon Hill, though.Light years away from today's Voyagers and Turbostars...but still within my lifetime.Better to travel hopefully, than to arrive? 'Some were shedded at Bristol'?........shedloads
  2. Transport Models of Preston now have a full selection on e-bay. They have arrived.
  3. A late crest version has just appeared on e-bay. Monk Bar Models,York. Competitive price. Edit.....all 3 versions.....but price has risen by £ 6 in 5 minutes ! Edit.....now price seems to have 'stabilised' for all three at £79.99. A roller-coaster ride ! Bit like the stock market, really.
  4. I have a recorded sighting of D 8407 at Moorgate on 3/9/1959 if that helps.
  5. If they are as good as the last few offerings from Heljan, then this will be a model to cherish.
  6. Agree...now showing as 'arrived'....delivery close,then...unless ( hopefully not ) there's another 'Modified Hall' debacle.
  7. Be careful for what you wish......sexy Alfas.....red or otherwise...quickly lose their appeal when clutch seizure brings traffic chaos to Cambridge by vehicle immobility blocking a bus lane. The only red around is your face. Alfas ? Pretty, good performance but reliability on a par with Clayton diesel loco. Be really trendy.....go Japanese.....boring is the new exciting. Go on.....cuddle a Toyota
  8. Many of us have used their website...without problems reported on this forum to date.Do you happen to be aware of any incident of fraudulent usage ? On what evidence are you making this claim ? Both payments I have recently made for items have been via a secure system.I am sure your allegation is well-meaning but it could easily be commercially damaging to the NRM,which relies on sales of specially-commissioned models, amongst other things,to survive.
  9. This is an image of the sample on display at DEMU a couple of weeks ago.......see posting 111 above. Comments on chimney appreciated. Correct ....or not ? Please let's get this one right.
  10. This particular gent ( ? ) resides nary a stone's throw from Shildon and has been an e-bay regular for several years. Why do punters buy ? Because they are uninformed and gullible. My question is......how has he managed to be in possession of three within 24 hours ?
  11. Prince William is a beautiful model. One tip.......I almost contacted Shildon enquiring as to where the set of etched plates were.....not in the plastic shell or sleeve. Subsequently discovered nestling safely interleaved in the instruction papers in the outer box. Be careful......the perils of modern packaging!
  12. Now on e-bay....3.....at £170 o.n.o.
  13. Ah.....a soul mate.....a.Stihl 'freak'. In fact, just considering a cordless pole trimmer to deal with ever -growing hedges & trees.Price looks great ....until you discover that it's extra for the li-on battery AND its charger !! THAT clinches it......far cheaper to invest my cash in a Lode(Star). Long ago ceased the'shoes' strategy. Imelda Marcos already outgunned.
  14. My wife would run to the toilet with 'legs crossed' if she saw the cost. Wish I could remember the chimney on 4018 at the weekend,though......Stop it,boy.....neuroticism is for lesser mortals.
  15. I have in front of me my battered copy of Ian Allen Combined ABC for 1955. There is a photograph of Princess Margaret ( 4056 ) which would indicate a slightly taller/slimmer chimney than the the one modelled in the excellent image of Lode Star. So........what with the plates and chimney,it appears that ,for GWR afficionados, some further work to be done. I am still looking forward eagerly to the model being on my layout, however. Its overall shape and graceful lines are right. Stars and Saints were iconic locos of my childhood.....from Swansea High Street to Cardiff General,Pontypool Road and beyond........Why commit NOT to buy.?.....there won't be another one signalled on the down main any time soon.
  16. No....in fact 4018,GWR. Spoiled...at least the sample is....by seriously deficient name and number reproductions.Did not have opportunity to query this with Mr.K.
  17. Saw one on that nice Mr.Kohler's road show at DEMU yesterday.Very pretty.........but screaming for a set of etched brass plates.
  18. Saw the beast yesterday at DEMU (home territory).....looks very, very impressive to me in outline shape. A cause for future celebration, methinks.
  19. Sunday 24th January 1962.....Temple Meads.....double -heading 'Warship' on evening Paddington-Bristol-Plymouth.....the W.R.'s Sundays 'Great Way Round'. Posted this before,I know.Repeating myself (again)....senior moment etc.... Cheers,Mike.......Ian.
  20. Which entirely misses the point that these were retailed by 'Steam' at Swindon to raise much-needed funds. Hopefully, the production run will have done just that.It has value to this forum member as he was one of the first to see D 1000 in service.Thankfully,I've lasted longer than the livery but my memory lingers on and I'm still useful.
  21. My rake of Hornby Gresleys are getting feverish with excitement.......so am I.
  22. You have lit the blue touch paper......now 'retire to safe distance'
  23. It is in the Bachmann 2013/4.Catalogue. Rails are fantasising....again.......just means THEY haven't any of the current batch of 47715. More will eventually arrive in another consignment, just as,for example the current Class 37 D 6984 ( weathered ) is about to.Don't panic....that's just what Rails marketing style .....and one or two others....want you to do Try elsewhere....e.g. Hereford Model Centre.
  24. On a lighthearted ( ? ) note Steam's 'Western Enterprise' now on e-bay at £289.99. Warms the cockles of your heart doesn't it ? Perhaps not.......
  25. See my new topic......'Bachmann New Arrivals' on this section of the forum. A case of 'Now you see it now you don't'
