  1. Very intersting read. I drive a shunter on the Helston Railway, and we are currently replacing the track from Truthall Halt back towards Helston.
  2. Took a photo of 6167 on the last steam hauled freight on the Maidenhead to High Wycombe line, many, many years ago...........
  3. Got mine this afternoon. It's a bit heavier than the Hornby model, but the driving wheels are around 1mm too small. Quite noticeable when next to Hornby's model. Not had a chance to run it yet though!
  4. I have just asked Hornby technical if it would be possible to buy the motor and bogies to convert the unpowered unit. I was told that would be uneccessay as both NDM's in the 7 car set are already powered! I'll wait and see. They will need four decoders though!
  5. Thanks Mark. I wanted to use the Bill Bedford coupling rods, which are not the main problem. It's the connecting rods which attach to the slide bar crosshead that are giving me the headache. The Bachmann ones are joined with a small cast in 'rivet' which is too large to fit the Bill Bedford rods. I don't know if those made by Markits will fit the Bachmann set up or whether anyone else had done the conversion and knew what bits worked OK. I'll have a look on Gibsons site to see if there is anything suitable as well It looks like I'll be having to try out a few things myself. Thanks again to everyone for the information, it is much appreciated.
  6. I've just read your article Tim, which was very informative. Sorry I did not reply sooner.
  7. Many thanks for all your replies, much appreciated and a lot of ideas for me to follow up on. Sorry I did not reply sooner, but I'm receiving Chemo and have been feeling unwell since I put up the request and have only just seen all your responses.
  8. I'm converting a Bachmann 45xx to P4 using Ultrascale wheels and the Bill Bedford Coupling and Connecting rod set. I would be very grateful for any details and advice from anyone that has done this conversion, on how to fit the rod to the slide bar crosshead, along with what items I could use to fit the coupling rods to the Ultrascale crankpins, as the conversion kit is designed to use the existing Bachmann items.
  9. Is the APT the tooling 'lost' by DJ Models????
  10. Thanks to this forum, I have now contacted the liquidators. Don't hold out much hope though as I paid via PayPal and most people here who also have, say they're not interested.
  11. I have only just found out about this. No-one has notified me, so I wonder how many others still don't know? Have added my details to the form and updated the totals.
  12. No problem, I take it your address is in the parcel? Pete
