  1. Agreed, let's hope they go forward in a positive manner and recover from past problems. Hopefully, finances permitting, the collector s club will evolve and flourish. At the end of the day, the hobby would be lot poorer without the Hornby brand!
  2. Spot on post, if they replaced the 0-4-0 tank with a Sentinel this would motivate a fair few folk to join. This new club is just very lacklustre to say the least.
  3. Yes, I've just had mine for what it's worth. Why on earth do they still try to push the 040 tank loco as benefit of joining ? I realise that the hobby is a broad church and as such must appeal to all, in particular the younger set. I remember reading somewhere that there would be an option to receive a wagon up to a certain value, what happened to that proposal/idea? I thought Hornby were going down the Bachmann Club model, which is very good value for what you receive.
  4. Hardly "Balderdash" I think. This was the official response from Hornby, who stated that the tooling had been lost following their exodus from Sanda Kan. Are we now supposed to dismiss what we are told from the manufacturer/selling agent ?
  5. Sorry for misleading anyone, yes you are quite correct BR Blue, it is PH designs who manufacture etched replacement radiator grills for the Hornby 50. I've just checked online and these are currently listed (Part No PH50DS2). This detailing kit also contains steps and other bits and pieces which may come in useful. They should be available to purchase, priced at £4.75 + £3.00 p+p.
  6. Shawplan do replacement radiator grills for the Hornby 50 and other modern diesel locos. Might be a good place to start and they are much better quality than the originals.
  7. The more I see of the J36 and in particular Maude, the more I want one. A late crest BR version with a separately fitted snowplough would be a most welcome addition.
  8. I would say a re-release is a racing certainty. The later versions had various tweeks, one being turned metal buffers on the loco, this made a world of difference from the fragile plastic moulded ones.
  9. Rob, It's the 4MT 260 with 1B tender for me, a beautiful model, superb in every way.
  10. In the words of John Mc Enroe, You cannot be serious!
  11. Has anyone run one of the Hornby Crosti 9f 's through these points with it's"Pizza Cutter" leading bogie wheels ?
  12. A King class in the correct shade of GWR green maybe????
  13. Just had an e-mail from Derails promoting the latest 66. If anyone is still after one of these, they are doing them for £135.95 with free p+p.
  14. At least Hornby kept their prices on new releases for 2018 at a reasonable level, unlike another company I could mention.
  15. Well I for one appreciate your video's Mike as someone who has 5 S15's! Thank you again.
  16. Wasn't this precisely what Hornby did with the airsmooth W/C Exeter, which Sanda-Kan massively under-produced some years back??? Or in the case of SWS, is it because of QC issues??? I had three in total from three different outlets, maybe I was just unlucky but they all went back for various defects, which couldn't be readily rectified. I'm biding my time before I purchase to see if Hornby have got it right with this model.
  17. Track Shack have this loco for sale at £129.05 including p+p. Don't know how many they have, but I would be quick if you want one.
  18. Let's hope their QC is better with this release.
  19. Try Derails of Coleford, keen pricing with customer service that is second to none.An added plus is that all locos are tested prior to despatch.
  20. In the latest issue of Hornby magazine there is a feature on the forthcoming City of Birmingham tts Stanier Pacific. The article states that this loco is now shown as a March release, the Hornby website however still have it listed for a May.
  21. Type 4 D200 has got to be a major contender for an NRM special with it being 50yrs since this locos introduction.
  22. Dave, From recollection, Peasholm models used to do cab doors and small fittings for the A1, A3 and A4 and should be suitable for a B1. Not sure whether they sell direct, the last time I saw them they were being marketed by Peters spares. Hope this assists.
