  1. Hi, Just asking on here in case anyone else is in the same situation rather than pestering Accurascale direct. My 3 - 2 Newspapers and the green Enparts - were ordered (and paid for) in March as part of a bigger pre-order with some Mark 2Cs and a Deltic. Does anyone know if the Siphons will be despatched separately now, or will I have to wait until the other items are available? Thanks, Mike
  2. I think it's been assembled incorrectly. The other side of the platform, which is chamfered should be facing the outside. I had one of these which worked fine but, sorry, can't find a picture at the moment.
  3. Evening Andy, Much enjoyed the last video. Great to see the track layout starting to come together. As I was watching I just wondered if you had considered the possibility of an additional independent line from the clay branch into the fiddle yard? A bit like this maybe? Would need a double slip instead of a point of course. Or even like this, if you could widen the baseboard slightly? This would enable a train to enter or leave the clay branch at the same time as another train was departing the station on the down main. Just a thought. Cheers, Mike
  4. Thanks Andy. Can't get any better reason than that.
  5. Wow! Impressive list Andy! I notice you've used the name Bute Road before. Apologies if I've missed an explanation earlier in the thread or in a video, but just wondered whether there is any significance in using the name again for this layout, especially given it's obvious connection with Cardiff? Cheers Mike
  6. Hi Andy, Great to have you back in the 'layout topics' section. I used to forget to look in the 7mm section, so will be great to see the hopefully (very) regular updates here. The area around Par and the Newquay branch is of course well worth a visit for 'research purposes', though as Stubby says, maybe now is not the best time of year to head down there! There is still loads of interesting railway infrastructure and movements, though you have to plan carefully - and be lucky - if you want to see a clay train these days. A trip along the Newquay branch is the best / only way of glimpsing St Blazey depot and the Rocks china clay works at Goonbarrow Junction, which I believe is the only location where clay is loaded now. Hope you don't mind me posting this one, admittedly going back to 2016, of 66 142 rounding the curve from St Blazey with the JIAs bound for Exeter Riverside and then on to the potteries! Mike
  7. I think it's known as Chapel Siding? Definitely a siding anyway- not a loop.
  8. I've just reluctantly spent £8.95 on insured return postage, so they're gone. I can only get to a Post Office on a Saturday and next Saturday would have been close to being too late to return them. As many people have also said, I would have been happy to work with them if there had been some sort of communication about a possible remedy, but the silence meant I felt I had no option but to send them back.
  9. Picked up my 3 from the Royal Mail delivery office today, but won't even bother opening the box. Real shame this, but as I'm years away from a layout to run them on, not the end of the world. I do think that, given it's nearly a week since this broke, it's about time we heard something from Flangeway - either on their website, by e mail or on here. If they were to say, for example, that people who waived their right to a full refund now would be first in line for a corrected model in a year or so's time, and at the original price, I would be happy to take a chance and leave my money with them. The consumer rights clock is ticking, so if nothing is said soon, I might have to assume they aren't doing anything to sort this, and just return the models and ask for a full refund.
  10. A little further along the Bridgwater & Taunton canal is the old water tower. You can see the proximity to the new flats, so wonder whether there are any plans to re-use this building. Would be a shame if it was demolished. Photos 07.07.2020. I can't quite make out the lettering on the building. Looks more like an advert than railway related? Would be great if anyone had a photo which showed it better? I didn't go around to the other side facing the railway last week, but Streetview shows it still lettered 'BRITISH RAILWAYS TAUNTON FREIGHT CONCENTRATION DEPOT'. Mike
  11. Hi, Only just come across this interesting thread. By coincidence, I took a couple of photos last week which might qualify. Taunton. 07.07.2020 Anyone know when this building was last used and whether the sign was ever covered over with a more modern one? The building is surrounded by modern flats and further re-development of the area is planned so will be interesting to see what, if anything, becomes of it? Mike
  12. Here's one for when you're still saving up for the trailers! HST power cars, 43160 leading and 43088 pass Boat and Anchor crossing, Bridgwater, this afternoon 10/07/20, returning to Laira Depot from Wabtec, Doncaster Works. I understand these are 2 out of 4 additional power cars purchased for use as spares or possible additional Castle Class sets.
  13. This seemed to be a huge train. Difficult to count but must have been 30+ wagons at least? Following up at the rear was 66 953.
  14. 66 562 leads a massive HOBC train, 06.20 High Marnham, Nottinghamshire to Fairwater Yard, Taunton, at Boat and Anchor crossing, Bridgwater this afternoon.
  15. A quick burst of Class 66 activity at Bridgwater this afternoon. 66 118 passes the Boat and Anchor crossing, working 12.48 Alexandra Dock Junction to St. Blazey.
  16. 66 596 coming off the Berks & Hants line at Cogload Junction, Taunton with a short Westbury to Fairwater Yard working yesterday, 07/07/20.
  17. Thanks for your comment & likes Rob. You must have been browsing a long way back to come across this! As a quick update, unfortunately a change of circumstances has forced the dismantling of the layout pending sale of the house. Made a bit of a mess trying to take it apart! Partly because most of the boards had been re-cycled from previous layouts, and because I'd never envisaged having to move it, it was never going to come out in a state where it can be re-built. Luckily I hadn't got as far as ballasting most of the layout, so all the track and turnouts were easily lifted, and most of the buildings were removable so they can all be reused. The only part I have managed to save is the branch terminus, which I've managed to extract in one (rather too large) piece. Everything else is now packed ready to be moved once the house sells. I hope whoever buys the house finds a good use for the shed! In hindsight the layout had many limitations and things I wished I'd done differently, so hopefully I will learn the lessons and be able to build something better if and when circumstances allow. Cheers, Mike
  18. Hi, Just wondered if anyone has any information/thoughts on the BR blue 33 010 which comes in the 1095 train pack (with the grey tankers)? I know the weathering isn't great, but it seems to be the only 'banger blue' - no headlight or cant rail stripes - version available at the moment. It's been discussed on here about the different panels below the grill - moulded or printed - but this loco has nothing at all below the grill, which is surely an error? Just hope the overall shape news is good as I've already ordered a pack!! Thanks, Mike
  19. Hi Bob, I don't think 3 platform footbridges were that common on the GWR. Exeter St Davids springs to mind and possibly Reading, though Reading has been replaced with a new ultra- modern design. Newton Abbot is also worth a look. Google images will give you plenty of pictures. All these are big mainline through stations though, so not sure how useful they would be. Many other multi platform stations had subways of course. Cheers, Mike
  20. The 22 then returns to the head shunt. Before heading back down the branch with the loaded tanks. Overall very impressed with both appearance and performance, the loco being able to perform the complete sequence without any stalling or derailments. Cheers, Mike
  21. Hi, I never intended to run an earlier period, but the recent bargain price on the Dapol Class 22 was too tempting to resist. D6332 joins another recent bargain purchase of a Bachmann Class 43 Warship, and a Western I've had for quite a few years. So turning the clock back to the very late 60s , the fairly newly painted into BR Blue D6332, is ideal motive power for the branch milk tanks. Hopefully a bit reminiscent of the Hemyock branch? Arriving with the empties from Wembdon Road. Waiting in the head shunt with the full tanks retrieved from the dairy. Hopefully road vehicles are about correct period? Mike
  22. Hi, Looks great! I wonder did you consider using actual cement for the encrustation - possibly applied through a sieve or even a tea strainer to get a very fine powder? Mike
