  1. I was hoping for a re-run of mk2e FO/TSOs in Blue/Grey Inter-City. They always seem to sell out whilst retailers appear to have loads of privatisation era Mk3 HST coaches hanging around at heavily discounted prices. Being able to build a 1970’s/80’s rake of mk2s quite cheaply via the Railroad or Railroad Plus range wouldn’t be a bad move would it?
  2. There is a photo in John Vaughan’s “Newquay Branch and it’s branches” book of 50037 (Large Logo) and an Inspection Saloon (Blue/Grey) going through Luxulyan around 1985.
  3. Tempted to get a Skipper. I remember them at Newquay circa 1986-87.
  4. The white gutter rail stripe on the Doncaster painted ones is higher than ones painted at other depots. If you look the white stripe it is above the gutter line, squeezing under the Headcode box and above the doors. The top half of the doors being completely blue. On other ones such as 026, the top half of the door is white and the top of the white gutter rail is in line with the top of the doors.
  5. Some NSE class 50’s the white surround didn’t extend as far as the doors. This is Exeter in July 1987. The white roof level band is quite high compared to 50026. Just did a search and it seems 50044 went to NSE livery at Doncaster 11/86, and was the first to lose the original NSE livery when it was repainted in August 1987.
  6. It also needs the upper white body stripe, and which needs to go above the rainwater gutters just below the head code panel. I think Exeter may have been a bit different to some of the other NSE ones.
  7. Exeter is a good choice. I stood in the cab of it as an 11 year old at Newquay station in 1987, so would be on a must get list. I have the Lima one. Strange choice of black cab windows though. It was only in the original NSE for a short while. Also would expect a crest below the name plate. The £223 retail price seems too steep for me though.
  8. Finally found this picture today. I took this at Ward Ferrous, Silvertown in April 1988. I don’t know anything more about this particular Sentinel or whether it was in use at the time or not.
  9. Had mine 19 years, done about 15k in that time. Had a couple of electrical glitches but nothing that has left me stranded. They just need a bit more looking after than other cars
  10. I would buy a TVR Chimaera, they were the most popular TVR, and they weren’t that rare in the late 90’s (about 6,000 built). I am a bit biased though, having a 1:1 scale one in the garage.
  11. Just scanned a few more photos, these are around 1990 time. Class 108 (955) departing Penzance. Class 122 (100), sitting at the far end of Newquay's platform. I expect the driver and guard were having a lunch or afternoon break. Class 122 (P103) at Trencreek crossing. Class 108/101 Hybrid set at Newquay One from 1992, Class 122 122112 and Class 101 (824) at Carbis Bay, on the St Ives to St Erth service.
  12. The run-round facilities at Newquay were removed in 1987, so I doubt there would have been anything other than DMU's & HSTs at Newquay during the 1990's.
  13. Hi All, I hope these are of interest. I have just scanned these from an old photo album, so these have never seen the light of day before on the web. I took these at Newquay Station in 1986/1987. Apologies for the quality, I was only 11 and 12 at the time, so didn't really think about the composition of the shots. First up is 50045 - Achilles - which was an evening service, I think was around August 1986. Second Pic, Class 118 around Easter 1987. Third pic, Lucky catch going past the station and seeing 37207 - William Cookworthy on the weed killing train, again around Easter 1987. Fourth pic, 50031 - Hood - in July 1987, also just arrived was 50044 (although you can't see it here). Fifth pic, 50044 - Exeter - I see that someone else has similar photos on the web of 50044 from that day as well. The driver let me take a wander around the cab, I still have a photo of me standing in the doorway Sixth pic - Class 142 in the evening, I believe this was also in July 1987. Seventh pic - A bit later in the year (August/Sept time), Class 142 on a morning service to Par. Eighth pic - Bit of a dreary day, a few weeks before the last loco hauled services. 47596 Aldeburgh Festival and 50021 Rodney. Not a great picture, but thought I'd add it for historical purposes I do have some other photos, but these are mainly from the Class 101/Bubblecar/HST era that followed. Hope you liked them.
