  1. Good evening everyone Well, the weather has been absolutely beautiful, warm and sunny, but with a little bit of cloud cover. It made for a great day out at Dunham Massey, we clocked up 2 1/2 miles whilst we were there. There were a lot of young mums and some grandparents with toddlers there today, mostly sat on the main lawn enjoying the sunshine, it was lovely to see. I’ll bet the little darlings will have had a good sleep when they all got home. Below is a photo of the lake taken from the garden behind the house. We then headed for home to have dinner. I also took a photo of this, a Davidia Involucrata, or handkerchief tree After dinner, Sheila and I went to have a look at how our garden is doing, as we were just about to head back inside, we saw a blue tit going into one of the bird boxes, Sheila got quite excited, as it was the first time she’s actually witnessed it herself. Once back inside, I began making a chocolate orange and cinnamon cheesecake, which will be tomorrow night’s dessert, as Mike and Sarah are coming over. I’ve only ever seen a grass snake in the wild, that was when I was in the scouts and on a summer camp in North Wales.

  6. Good morning everyone The sun is shining and the sky is blue, so my walk to the butchers should be a very pleasant one. After that, the day takes a different course, as instead of going to the Trafford Centre, which I did yesterday, we’re off to Dunham Massey to take a walk round the gardens, then call for a drink and a slice. Back later. Brian
  7. Good morning everyone The ban collar day this week has thrown the whole week out, we both kept think he was Tuesday and the fact that I’m going to the Trafford Centre today, is only going to make things worse. The reason for today’s change is that we’re hoping to go to Dunham Massey tomorrow for a walk around the grounds again. So, once I’ve dropped Sheila off at the church hall for her Zumba class, I’m heading off to the Trafford Centre today instead of gardening. Charlie isn’t coming round today, as he’s off out with some of his mates, so no workshop for me this afternoon. So I might sit at the dining room table and do some more building construction. Back later. Brian

  9. Good evening everyone All went well at the surgery this morning. I arrived a few minutes early and was seen on time for a change. Before I had my injection, I had my blood pressure checked, 114/70, which apparently is very good, especially as I’d walked it there (1/2 mile there and back) and not rested for more than a couple of minutes! Appointments have been made for my next injection and also for my next blood test. Once home I made myself a muggertea and headed off outside with every intention of doing some gardening. However, I ended up tidying the shed as it was getting quite full. It now looks a lot better and I can at least get in and retrieve any power tool now, without having to move the wheelbarrow out of the way, which is a result. After dinner, I spent an hour or so in the workshop, doing a bit more work on the small industrial locomotive. Today I fixed the chassis securing bits to the metal footplate and made a new footplate overlay. The next stage will be to glue the new footplate down and add some tool boxes etc. Although I’m using an old Hornby locomotive and an upgrade kit, it’ll be more a freelance engine, so I’m not too bothered about it looking prototypical, it’s more a case of whatever takes my fancy.

  12. Good morning everyone Up a bit earlier than usual, as I have a 9:10 appointment at the surgery for my 3 monthly hormone injection of Zoladex, the mainstay in my fight with cancer. There are no firm plans after that, so it’s looking like another morning in the garden, followed by an afternoon in the workshop. Back later. Brian

  14. Good morning everyone When I switched on the iPad this morning, there had been another bl00dy update, consequently most of the icons I want on my Home Screen had disappeared or been moved somewhere else, pah, pah and double pah! So another 20 minutes looking for where they’d been hidden, so I could either put them back where I want them, or download the ones that had been deleted. Then Sheila wanted me to place an order for some of her medication at Boots, there webshite decide that my email address and password weren’t correct, oh yes they fecking are! It took me about 25 minutes to complete the task, it would have been quicker to walk to the shop to do it, pah again. So, now the weather is looking decidedly dodgy, very dark and grey skies, but I’m going to chance it and attempt to do a bit of gardening. Back later Brian
