  1. The boss is part of the anodised axle and therefore should be electrically insulated. In the unlikely event that the anodising has worn away on both bosses the 12V would still need to arc across the 0.3mm gap. Have you checked the wheesets for non-continuity across the wheelsets? You might just have a faulty set.
  2. Please note that Shop 4 is temporarily closed with immediate effect while the shopkeeper undertakes a somewhat protracted house move. The shop itself will be in storage, so regrettably no special exceptions can be accommodated. The shop is likely to be closed until at least mid-September. We will keep you updated. Tony Simms Sales Officer
  3. On one of my 2mm workbenches, 9.25km of Code 40 rail. Yep, 18,500 0.5m lengths...
  4. Hi Ian I built my first Finetrax turnout at last week's NEAG meeting. Very straightforward. The only instructions and template you should have are those on the Association website. I think I've missed that bit about templates when I was rewriting the BF instructions to make them suitable for 2FS consumption! The next batch of kits have a slightly different tiebar arrangement where you get two pins to solder to the blades. That might suit your needs better. I'm not sure how the current batch are soldered, but it might be worth carefully bringing an iron to them - the plastic prints are fairly impervious to heat, so you will soon know if the tabs will release or not.
  5. Oh, I don't know, put a porch on and it could look a bit like an A4. Lined Apple Green would delight the neighbours, I'm sure... 🤣
  6. What livery are you going to do it in? Lined or unlined? Weathered? 😉
  7. Hi Nigel There will be two types of Fowler (Plain Front and Bit Stuck On(!)), Johnson and two types of LNER (Short Hanger and Longer Hanger). These are printed and ready to go. Simon Grand has identified some LNER ones with even longer hangers (!) and I might get these done too.
  8. I seem to have got dragged into doing some tender axleboxes... 😆 Here are the LNER Group Standard ones with short spring hangers. I've just noticed that one of the spring protectors hasn't printed. I'll need to check that. These and other types will be available to buy from Central Shop at Derby.
  9. We are pleased to advise that Shop 3 has reopened for email/PayPal orders only. Please send your orders as normal to shop3 at 2mm dot org dot uk. An announcement will be made when the full service can be recommenced. Thank you for bearing with us. -- Tony Simms Sales Officer
  10. It's worth pointing out that WSL does not necessarily mean stocks are low, merely that for whatever reason they will not continue in that format when sold out. Off the top of my head, I recall that there are so many Mk4 11.75mm wheels left in stock that the Mk5 version is unlikely to appear in my lifetime...
  11. Unfortunately, the existing shopkeeper cannot continue to operate the shop. There will be a temporary hiatus until such time as alternative arrangements are made. Please do not send any more orders to shop 3 until an update is issued. -- Tony Simms Sales Officer
  12. It's fairly straightforward Jim. If you're heading into town, get the EzyBus. For the countryside try the CBus. Whichever option you go for be careful not to sit in the Raspberry Pi someone left on the seat. 😉

  14. The issue is not cost. While the Association doesn't have unlimited funds, there is not a great deal that it couldn't do from a financial perspective. What we severely lack is time and that can only be generated by people stepping forward and giving their own time. The number of members offering themselves for whatever they might do seems to be at an absolute all-time low. Whether that is partly due to COVID or not, I'm not sure. We all love the Central Shop. We all want to go nosey round it at Expos, Supermeets and AGMs. Jim Allwood has done sterling service with it for many years and is, quite understandably, wanting a break. Despite several requests in the Newsletter, not one single member out of 900 has even enquired as to what it might involve. Not a single one. A solution is available, as I can take the Central Shop and remain Sales Officer, but I will have to relinquish my position of Chairman at the AGM as there are only so many balls I can juggle without being in danger of dropping the lot. Luckily we have a member who is willing to step up as Chairman having now gained some committee experience. If you've missed out on limited run, contact the designer to enquire after a re-run, or contact me if you don't know who the designer is. But be prepared to pay through the nose - you might have to buy several full sheets to get the few etches you do want and be faced with a whole load of etches that you don't know what to do with.
  15. I wouldn't get too excited. Based on the last twelve months sales there are two year's worth of MR buffer stops, nine year's worth of Cambrian and an infinite number of year's worth of both LBSCR and SECR. I'll let you do the maths on the last two...
  16. I look forward to your nomination as Sales Officer at the next AGM...
  17. That's very nice, but I note that your penny is not only out of scale, but out of era too. Heavens! 😆
  18. They seem a bit heavy bore for toilet drains. Poor diet in the capital??
  19. The lamps get a lick of paint. I need five for my stables block on Hull Bridge. It seemed a bit silly printing so few. Indeed I made the schoolboy error of cutting one off the sprue before trying to paint it - no chance! The bracket is 4mm from wallplate to lamp centre. This is the boon of 3D printing as far as I'm concerned. I might have made one of these in a couple of hours. It would have been nowhere as neat and I've come away with a thumping head. I drew this in about 30 minutes and now I can have as many as I want! Just need to improve my painting now...
  20. Motor spec is here: https://tramfabriek.nl/motors.html#motors
  21. As per the video, they are N gauge. The 2FS version is available from the Association shop.
  22. I think you're being a bit harsh on yourself Jim - if my lettering was anywhere near that, I'd be happy. What is unforgivable, though, is drinking Bells...
  23. The 13T 64DP gear actually had the general dimensions of a 14T gear so your clearance centres should be nearer 6.5mm. I'm not familiar with the Fencehouses Jinty chassis - are you referring to the Masterclass/Farish conversion chassis? What are the specified centres/gears in the instructions? Have the holes for the frame bushes been open out true? Have you tried 14T and 18T M0.4 gears? Some photos might help.
