  1. Andy, stand of trees, short tunnel, perhaps?
  2. Andy, like what you are doing. Looks good. And, just a thought do you need a station? It looks a bit lost and out of place stuck away in that corner.
  3. Jamie, this is another shot taken at the same time. The bottom affects are obtained using different shades of paint. The polyurethane is poured on and left to dry. Other coats can be added to gain thickness. Any bubbles can be pricked and the liquid closes round them. It's not difficult. You want to make sure however the bottom is level and the liquid doesn't leak out! There are many other shots of this scene in my Hintock thread. (Go to the most recent to see the scene complete and work backward for its development.) Needless to say its a favourite locality for photography. Regards,
  4. Jamie, glad you liked it. Used this on a painted cork base.
  5. Milk churns rattling, gentle breezes rippling the waters of the River Brede-Port Bredy on a delightful summer afternoon.
  6. Why timetable working with all its complications? Why not a sequence of trains that represent timetabled trains? I have a few words about that in my RM January 2018 article, on operating Port Bredy.
  7. Yes, Rob I am exceedingly fortunate to have stood in the vestibule and behind that gate.... Please see also post # 2168... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/60526-the-hintock-branch-1930s-dorset-joint-gwrsr-workings-in-oo/page-87
  8. If I might join the party-here's my set in non-push/pull mode leaving Port Bredy. When I knew this stock and traveled in it on the Portland Branch in the late 1930's and early 40's it was worked as above. For more photos see post #2168 on my Hintock thread.
  9. Thanks Andy, it may and I say may, assist to keep the subject of a layout thread clear of extraneous matters. Or maybe even a Topic for OT.
  10. Ordered a pre-owned M7 at 0804, my time, Hatton's time ,1504. Picked and Packed, Hatton's time, 16.34. How's that for service? I'm a well satisfied customer. . Now I'll wait and see how well the postal service can do.
  11. Thanks John for those good wishes. I'm looking forward to getting my green one running. It will, I think, be quite at home on HRx. And, your snow and slush is expected to hit here later today. We've had snow and extremely cold for some time. So at least will warm up.
  12. CME, glad you and others liked it, it nicely captures the essence of Port Bredy. This is the original image reduced to 1024 x 768 and sharpened. Nothing else. You can see the great improvement with Holly's photoshoppng the back scene and taking out the reflection in the water from the overhead lights. Customarily you get what I take but I can see here how I need to learn something about that process. She will be back home for Christmas and I'll ask her for some tuition.
  13. Richard, I like the idea of your gas works. I did consider adding one to Hintock Redux but as it would have had to be along the front-and difficult to reach over-I didn't pursue it. Maybe another opportunity will present itself. Meantime I look forward to seeing your progress.
  14. Andy, your post of December 7 says, if I read it right, that many owners don't have plans, they make it up as they go along.( It's certainly what I do albeit with a back of an envelope sketch.) But they do have a finished result. Surely that can be transcribed into a sketch plan at least. What's the problem then in a draughtsman using that as a guide along with any photos, to produce a finished plan
  15. Andy, thank you for posting and well done the Club. Some good layouts there and well worth any one's visit.
  16. Andy, certainly not. Let's get it right. Although my maternal grandparents were well and truly Welsh being from N Wales, the mysteries of the language are well beyond me.
  17. Andy, no laughing matter. Safety First. Two suggestions:- 1. Do you need Much Dithering now you have Pen y Bont? 2. Instead of the storage above the layout could the stock be stored below the railway in slide out drawers? Take care.
  18. I'm seeking a source of small square clockwork motors 2" x 2" or thereabouts having a high torque. If not this size any others that are available. Can any one assist please?
  19. Andy, one reason I got on with the Goods Shed at HRx was because I was "stuck" with the station building. I also as a distraction built a new house for the Stationmaster. However, I had another look this morning and seem to be getting there. I'll take some photos later and then see how it looks.
  20. Andy, you are not alone. I've been fiddling about with the placement of the station buildings at Hintock Redux for several weeks now. And, as Kevin remarks it helps to get on with other things and come back afresh. But, finally I think i'm there. Photos in due course.
  21. John...snow soon? Plenty up in the mountains already and been there for several weeks. Fortunately not down here...yet. I can wait. I've no doubt all that background information will assist you in getting it right, and if it looks right then it will be so. Too much information tends to confuse and the essentials harder to identify. And, once you've worked out in your mind the back story I look forward to seeing this develop in your own inimitable fashion. My regards,
