  1. 'Topley Dale' is Hornby Magazines test layout. They shared a video quite some time ago now of decorated samples running, unfortunately I can't seem to find said video (if anyone else can, I'd love to watch it again!). The video showed a number of running faults. One had a very noticeable wobble, the other slowed down and wheel slipped when pulling a medium sized RTR freight train around a corner. Not very good for a £200+ model by today's standards. Hopefully, these were teething issues that have now been stomped out...
  2. Very true Tony, I'll change that next time! I was very surprised how superbly they ran (most of the time... Hycilla didn't seem to like one of your points, I'll get the back-to-back out!) Hornby's new A2s are great models, it'll be interesting to compare the performance with the new Bachmann V2s. I've only seen a brief video of these being test ran on 'Topley Dale', but the running seems really poor! Dylan
  3. Evening everyone! Tony has asked me to post this, a video of my recent visit. It’s my first time filming/editing a video like this, so it’s not the best, but hopefully of interest!
  4. I found some LMS Semaphore kits in the Full Break I bought off you, let me know if you want it back to sell on or would like some more dough for it, as it's not much use on my layout, apart from for practicing before I tackle LNER semaphores!
  5. After Jesse's inspiration for wagon weathering, I thought I'd have another go. Not bad, I don't think. Any criticism/suggestions are welcome, we all can improve that way! Although, none are ‘finished’ yet.
  6. For those asking about the reference photos, here are the reference photos I sent Tom! Both A2s are weathered superbly weathered, and I’m very happy with both!
  7. Ooh err... not quite sure what I think to the latest photos of Hornby's Clan 6MT! Loco looks good, livery looks a bit garish? While we're talking about Clans, did they ever make it way to Doncaster?
  8. That's very kind of you Tony! I'll make sure to bring her. Of course! Superb work as always.
  9. Some B1s to wake up to on a Wednesday morning? What could be better!
  10. Brilliant work as always Tom! Very excited to get them back, you've excelled yourself as usual!
  11. You'll love what he's working on shortly for me... Hopefully I'll have her back in time to bring her for good run!
  12. I take it the same can be said for 'BRITISH RAILWAYS' Apple Green?
  13. Since the thread has strayed onto Hood on the Royal Navy, I think this video will be of great interest to some. The video looks into all possible theories about how and why the mighty Hood sank, and since the author is both a Naval historian and Naval engineer, I think is very creditable. Well worth a watch IMO
  14. Morning everyone, Just thought I'd post these here, my model of 60501 now has crew and lamps which really makes all the difference! Modelu crew and lamps, painted by Tunnel Lane Model Railways.
  15. Thanks Tony, I'm building a 51L NER 12T c10 open wagon and there's quite a number of small under frame parts that I don't feel confident enough or able to solder, especially with my accident prone fingers! But don't worry, the main construction of the wagon has been soldered, albeit not very neat! Dylan
  16. Morning Tony and everyone! Just a quick question, what glue does everyone recommend for small White Metal/Brass kit parts that can't be soldered? Many thanks, Dylan
  17. Looks the business Tony! Just what I was after. May I ask, what have you done between coaches?
  18. Morning everyone, Bit of an odd request, but does anyone have any photos or drawings of the ends/couplings of All Steel K type pullmans? The Hornby model is excellent, but I can't help but think that they'll be greatly improved with the addition of prototypical couplings and various vacuum pipes in the correct places. They look a bit bare in that department, especially in a large rake! Many thanks, Dylan
  19. Afternoon everyone... Just wondering if anyone can direct me to a P4 specific thread on RMWeb, or would it be appropriate of me to post my P4 questions on this thread? Ta muchly, Dylan
  20. From what I understand, only a few are being withdrawn, those that are still owned by LNER are being overhauled and should re-enter service late 2021 or 2022. Could be wrong though... Very interested to know what the A4's achieved!
  21. Evening everyone, Without wanting to trigger a debate, does anyone know why the first A2/3 was number 500, but the second was 511 ‘Airborne’, with 501 - 510 being the A2/2s and A2/1s? Wouldn't it be more logical to start the A2/2s and A2/1s at 500, then have all A2/3s numbered consecutively from 510? Seems a hit against the theme for Thompson, since Thompson simplified the LNERs numbering system?
  22. Glad to hear it! Tony is my go to model shop now. Always over the moon with his service. Enjoy your A2/3 and Q6! Another model on my hit list!
  23. Why does that story with Hattons not surprise me! I highly recommend Tony's Trains of Rugby. Second to none in service, and I believe he might have one in stock!
