  1. Morning everyone, can anyone help me with a Yeadon Issue? I'm wanting to recreate a model of 2750 Papyrus in 1937 condition when she was allocated to Doncaster. How does one decipher what type of tender she had from the numbers given? According to Yeadon, she had 5292 and 5329 while at home. Many thanks in advanced
  2. Looks cracking Tony! May I ask, what in your opinion is the best kit (be it Wagon, Coach, Loco etc) to progress my kit building skills? I'm getting plenty of practice with 51L White Metal Wagons, but I understand that there are a lot more intricate kits out there! Many thanks, Dylan
  3. Good morning everyone, I got a pleasant email from Hornby last night, saying that they have ordered new bodies to correct anyone's dodgy A2/2! They haven't told me any more details apart from that, but it sounds like if you've got an A2/2 with a dodgy cab fit, you can get it corrected. Top marks to Hornby there, although it really shouldn't have happened in the first place!
  4. Hi David, Of course! Would love too. I'm getting a B1 and S.L.W 24 back at the end of this month, and my two A2/2s back the month after. The superb Tom Foster is doing them up for me, he has his own thread on here and does a lot of work for the esteemed Tony Wright.
  5. I know the A2/2 is good, but it's not that good! Joking aside I think it's a brilliant model, apart from the 'out of the box' colour match and cab cap issue. I'll be very interested to how you weather her, I'm about to send mine off to be weathered. As for the cab issue, since my model shop of choice is out of stock, I've emailed Hornby. If they can't do anything then I'll just leave it/weather to hide it. It wasn't uncommon for the cabs of eastern locos to droop slightly so it's not entirely incorrect, just annoying!
  6. Thanks for all the replies about the A2/2! Seems like a popular topic! I'll have a look at putting mine right, but from what others have said it sounds like it won't really be possible. The model shop I ordered her from have ran out of 505s, so I've emailed Hornby asking if they can help with a replacement. If not then oh well, you can't notice it from a 'prototypical' viewing distance. I've also just noticed on mine that the water scoop on the tender is on back to front! That should be easy to correct though. As for Sam's Trains, I stopped watching his video on the A2/2 when he picked the model up by the tender with one hand and dangled the loco by the drawbar!
  7. Hi Paddy, The green actually looks pretty correct in real life, but of course the camera quality and the computers do alter the images somewhat. But as with all Hornby Brunswick green, once brought out with Weathering, it looks bang on. I refer you to Tom Foster's brilliant A3 which I believe was done using TCut.
  8. Good afternoon everyone, a little help if I may! I'm absolutely over the moon with Hornby's A2/2s, I have both 501 and 505 and they're incredible. They'll look even better once they've been shipped over to Mr Foster for him to work his magic on! But, 505 has a glaring issue that seems common on the A2/2. The cab/firebox/running plate fit is all wrong, and looks frankly awful, ruining an otherwise superb model, as pictured below. Does anyone know how this issue can be rectified? 501 has the same issue, but luckily is no where near as bad and is acceptable (although not perfect) I'm not a confident modeller at all, so I hope the solution doesn't require lots of disassembly and hacking! Stay safe and happy modelling, Dylan
  9. Hi Tony, Came across this photo this morning on Social Media, though you might like it! Big Bytham!
  10. Hi Andy, I'm afraid we don't, but the use of the embossed letters is optional, so you can always use the frames and then stick your chosen name over the top. It'll be fairly easy to trim off the fancy bits too as they're made out of 0.8mm Laserboard, if you so wished to do so. Hope this helps, Dylan.
  11. Hi Andy, Is this similar to what you want? https://www.scalemodelscenery.co.uk/lx052-oo-laser-cut-station-signsrunning-boards-pack-of-2-oo4mm176-940-p.asp?_=&variantid=7763
  12. I think work from Tom Foster illustrates how 'changing' weathering can be, and how it can add a whole new element to your models. Especially with RTR items, as the factory finish can sometimes look unrealistic, but can be brought out when weathered. For me, there's nothing worse than bad weathering, and there's nothing better than superb weathering.
  13. Good afternoon everyone, I'm currently modelling the Esk Valley Railway (1950-66), and I saw this photo on a Facebook group that I think a few on here will enjoy! Does anyone know what type of vehicle is being used as an inspection saloon? Class B1 61256 climbs Ravenscar Bank with the York based Engineers Inspection 6-wheel coach in 1962. Photographer unknown.
  14. Afternoon everyone, Rails of Sheffield have just announced two exclusive Bachmann V2s, a pretty penny to pay for a model if you ask me! https://railsofsheffield.com/news/articles/3698-exclusive-v2-class-locomotives
  15. Brilliant work as always David, may I ask where did you get those lights please? They look spot on for my shed layout! Ta muchly, Dylan.
  16. Good afternoon Tony/everyone, Going back to the discussion on W1s, Hornby have now updated their website which now shows the W1 is due Spring 2021 and the rebuilds are due Summer 2021. The A2/2s and A2/3s still show Winter 2020/21, but since they've only just received printed samples I think this may be updated to a later date, possible Q3 2021. Dylan.
  17. For those that are interested... Hornby have just released another update on the highly anticipated rebuilt W1s. Does anyone else think the lining on 60700 is too prominent? https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/news/the-engine-shed/all-that-glitters-is-gold
  18. Very nice work champ... Do you know how long they survived in this condition? I kind of fancy a rake on my layout now I've mastered the art of kit building. Already got a kit for the birdcage break van.
  19. Thanks for that Frank! I probably took the photos with my phone upside down so the camera could get better angles and the perspective looks better. Even though they show as right side up on my phone/laptop, I take it that could be why that one appears to be upside down? I tried rotating the image so it appeared upside down on my laptop, but it didn't have much affect unfortunately.
  20. While we're talking about wagons... I finished my first ever White Metal kit last night, a 51L NER B12, 12 Tonne plate wagon. It's very crude, but it's my first and I've learnt a lot from it so I'm happy. There are plenty of expert model makers on this thread, can I invite some constructive feedback please? I have another B12 wagon to build in the next couple of weeks and want to improve on it. Also I have no idea why RMweb decided to put the last photo in upside down, I couldn't seem to correct it unfortunately.
  21. Great to see stock back on the layout Jesse. Is that the Queen of Scots I spy?
  22. Thanks chaps, that's very annoying as my donor model has a non-streamlined tender! Oh well... back to eBay. I'm pretty certainly my donor model will make a nice representation of Capercaillie, so I'll have a crack at her. The photo is captioned as LNER 4488 Union of South Africa suitably illustrates the new livery at York Shed during 1938.
  23. Good morning everyone, I wonder if someone can help me out here. I'm wanting to recreate 4488 in this pictured condition, but I'm unsure what type of tender is being used. Google says 4488 always had a corridor tender, but looking at this image, I'd say she hasn't got one? Thanks in advanced, Dylan.
  24. Love the Isinglass kit champ. Must get one ordered. I take it was repurposed to parcels around the end of steam?
