  1. Not much update on the layout but still working on stock with painting started on the JGA’s
  2. Stupid question (as normal from me) I have purchased the regional railways 00 sound version but when programming the cars are going in the opposite direction do you have to have the coupled together when programming to make them go the same way or am I missing something ( I probably am)
  3. Short video of the layout in this weekends Darlington model show. It near the end. No more shows booked this year so I may do post exhibition maintenance and see if any invites come for 2022 and beyond
  4. Some of the previous pictures were from the Darlington show first time round and also when it was setup at home. The one thing I found whilst showing was the lack of space for spare locos as I am always keen on rotating these to give variety, this is something I will look at in the future
  5. So with the scenery mainly complete time to add some traction.
  6. This the trainsafe in the fiddle yard for this layout
  7. Yes I use it for all my layouts I used to buy direct but now since brexit it is 600 euros on postage and they wont budge so not bought any since then. Not their fault by the way.
  8. Hi Nick Thats a fair point I will look at that after the next exhibition not enough time at the moment. Nik
  9. Also started work on the engineers area and shed area The shed is scratch built and the hard area is card
  10. Next job was to start scenery and ballast. I used traditional pva mix on ballast but decided not to do total green static but went more for a yellow autumn look
  11. @woodenhead yes its moved on which I plan to show and then ive been invited back to the show this year so working on more improvements. I didn't post as i built it main due to time and then covid happened so forgot tbh I work opposite Thornaby station so see the class 66 and 60's passing from my office every day no Thornaby shed now which is sad as you say wished I worked here in the 80's and 90's wouldn't get much done as I would have been staring out of the window all of the time.
  12. Here's me thinking this was a model rail forum not a spelling class oh well
  13. Wiring This is completed for DCC the elusive 2 wire system not!. I ran a bus wire across all boards and attach droppers via spade and locks to ensure connectivity. All the point motors are peco for reliability and all have micro switches on as all points are electrofrog
  14. First thing was the baseboards which are all laser cut Whiterose Model boards with backscenes and cork laid to dampen the noise. So once built the track plan started to take shape
  15. Welcome to an exhibition layout I started in 2019 as we were asked to exhibit at Darlington show that year. The layout would be OO gauge and would be based in a fictitious area of teeside at the time of the late 80's to 2000's. All stock would be detailed rtr or kitbuilt weathered or resprayed. The layout will be run by a prodigy system and the points will be DC operated It measures about 16 ft and has a small storage yard while using the german product of trainsafe. The layout has a small shed, goods yard, scrap area and a small engineers area The topic shows the build up to first exhibition and then I will show modifications learnt and change up to today.
  16. These would be my wish list wagons (not my pictures) both versions in may livery variants
  17. I dont suppose anyone who is skilled enough or has the time to build these for me way above my skill level? Nik
  18. Finally for the xmas period we stared on storage coffin ends for the layout and also the front board protection to finish the layout off. A massive thanks to Whiterose Modelworks for help on this in a freezing workshop
  19. Also work has started on the signal box area of Peak forest south which needs a lot more detailing as time moves on but I wanted to get the main area completed as I move onto the old station area. Happily I managed to get the footbridge area also added. This was done before Gt Tunsley Dale arrived and space became a premium so a small delay has happened while I now sort the unit out to work in.
  20. Sorry for the lack of updates but work has been progressing slowly on the layout with the main straight run up and sidings towards the station area being worked on
  21. 2021 will see the layout set up and a plan of campaign drawn up to convert to DCC. Also additional repairs to any changed bits that were happening in wales to change it back to the normal exhibition layout will be completed. Watch this space as I will try to do regular updates
  22. Finally I have been preparing the layout for storage with coffin ends being added to help transport the layout in future as well as protecting it
  23. Also took some pictures of buildings in situ so I remember where they go when I set it up in the future
  24. Just a few pictures of the move to to yorkshire finally got round to sorting few out
  25. Hi all I have pre ordered some of these should I have received an invoice as yet for them or will it be the new year just want to make sure my pre order was successful Nik
