  1. Thanks Chris. I guess the model goes in the donor pile then to be converted to something else
  2. I’m reviving this thread to ask a related question. Does anyone know what formation the chocolate & cream MK1 RFO as modelled by Bachmann was used in. I’m wondering if it is suitable for any of the named trains which worked to / from the South West circa 1960. I can’t see it referenced in any of the timetables I’ve looked at.
  3. Would 5551 The Unknown Warrior be eligible for this poll?
  4. It was an unlucky engine but I’ve always liked ‘Windward Islands’ as a name.
  5. Thanks. I’m also building a Comet Bullied FK for Balcombe (to be finished in crimson & cream). It was part of the batch of coaches completed above but I got some bad bleed when masking so i has to strip it and start again. Once complete I’ll post pictures here.
  6. Thanks. Once I have finished what is currently on my bench ( a couple more Collet coaches and some Southern stuff for Balcombe) I think my next project will be a H39 & H40 restaurant combo which will form part of my Cornish Riviera Express. So these will be in WR chocolate & cream. Close enough?
  7. I have recently experienced the super glue fogging issue. On this recently completed Comet coach I fitted the grab handles, securing with super glue, after adding the glazing. This was done before joining to the roof, so there was plenty of ventilation. It still fogged up so I had to rip out the glazing and start again. Lesson learnt and I will either fit the details before glazing or use glue ‘n’ glaze in the future.
  8. Time to drag this thread up to date. I've had several coaches 90% finished over the past year and a long Xmas break has given me opportunity to get them finished. E152 BCK E155 CK C60 SK C67 SK D121 BSK C70 SK C73 SK These were my first attempt at bow pen lining. Not yet perfect but getting there
  9. Working on government IT, 2020 has turned out to be one of the busiest years in my working life. This has meant modelling output hasn’t been as high as I hoped. But a nice long Xmas break has given me the opportunity to finish off some models. So in the spirit of showing what we’ve done over the past year here are some Comet coaches I’ve completed. Collett E152 BCK Collett E155 CK Collett C73 SK Collett C70 SK Collett D121 BSK This was my first attempt with a bow pen. Not perfect, but getting there. Merry Christmas all!
  10. Apologies, you are right. I’ve just dug out the instructions and the A and B on them have been written by me As I tend to build my coaches as three sub assemblies (roof, body and underframe) and I tend to mark all 3 with A and B so that I don’t have to keep referring back to instructions when it is all put together. Maybe the builder of your first E147 worked in a similar way?
  11. Is there a corresponding A & B written on the underframe? Maybe they were added to ensure they were joined up the right way round. Also the ends will have different details on them - the alarm gear will only be on one end. Comet instructions label the ends A & B.

    Lockdown #2

As under EU’s Everything but Arms initiative we already trade quota and tariff free with the 49 least developed countries in the world I’m wondering what will change to improve said trade from January?
  13. For curtains I just paint some plain paper, cut it out and glue in place. Example of orange curtains below
  14. Anyone remember the kids program Trap Door from the early eighties? Plasticine animation.
  15. Mine arrived earlier this week. Looks excellent. As before, your attention to detail in packaging puts some full time producers to shame. Many thanks Ian.
  16. RB converted from Bachmann RU using Comet sides. It will form part of a boat train on John (RE6/6) and Rod’s (10800) Balcombe layout.
  17. Very kind of you sir to find all the pitfalls before I start work on mine
  18. They are ex LMS CCT. If they are plastic then they will be Parkside kits.
  19. Longworth lists D312 as exLNWR Whale BTK stock. He says all withdrawn by 09/58
  20. According to Hugh Longworth’s latest book several D131 lasted until ‘56/‘57 (at least two to ‘58 as all thirds) so I think the chances of some making it into crimson and cream would be relatively high. What diagram is the WCJS coach? I can see if there is any reference to withdrawal dates.
  21. I always thought the Merchant Venturer had a nice ring to it.
  22. GWR Brunswick green + chocolate & cream coaches (although I think LMS crimson lake looks very smart on coaches).
  23. Another +1 for GW Castles from me.
