  1. Surely, any driver who is going the wrong way down a slip road has driven past a no entry sign? i don’t think I could defend someone who had made such a fundamental error.....
  2. Yes compensated. But we rate them more than the Bedford sprung bogies we also use. Here is the link to the Brassmaster’s page for them: http://www.brassmasters.co.uk/bogie_CUs.htm
  3. I can thoroughly recommend the Brassmasters bogie compensation units as an alternative to the above. we have used both these and Bill Bedford on the coaching /EMU stock for Balcombe (P4) and have been very pleased with their performance and have settled on them for all future builds.
  4. I go on holiday for a couple of weeks and when I get back you have a whole new layout on the go Looks good so far. You’ll have to update your signature as St Breward is to be no more.
  5. I guess the important thing is to get a close match to the Bachmann MK1s they will be running with. Will be interested to see what you find as I have a similar job to do one day with the dining pair I will be making for my Cornish Riviera rake. Regarding transfers the lining is the same as for Crimson and Cream (single black and single straw/gold lining). Lots of people do this. I’ve used Fox, Tony Wright rates Replica and i’ve heard good things about CCTs version.
  6. Not necessarily un-credible. If Dave drew a salary of £50k a year it wouldn’t take long to burn through that crowd funding money, especially as income from his own products was sporadic at best.
  7. Maybe, but it will be obvious as any short will only occur when a loco crosses the V. I have wired them up into chocolate boxes so they are easy to swap out if one was to play up.
  8. Never had a problem with mine. Don’t they come with a lifetime guarantee? I always wire mine up using both switches for the frog so have an element of redundancy from the start.
  9. Alex, You should speak to Nick (Brinkly). He has amassed loads of info on the line and its stations whilst researching his Horabridge layout.
  10. I believe it is Kernow that have the rights for the SPA and they have done another run.
  11. Just caught up with this. Excellent modelling Nick. It’ll be good to see these rattling around with buffers at last
  12. Thanks Ian. That is most helpful.
  13. Hi Ian, Excellent job you have done there. Any chance you you could post some photos of the trailer roofs please? i have taken over from John the build of his 4LAV trailers and would be interested in your take on the conduit layout. Thanks.
  14. The way I fix footboards to my coaches is to drill .5mm holes into the solebar and solder stubs of .45mm wire through. You can then solder the footboards on top of the wire.
  15. The latest coaches for the new haven boat trains. All built from Comet kits. First up a d2320 Bulleid CK for the 1950 boat train. These coaches went from Southern green straight to BR green so the Malachite livery is correct for the period. Next up a couple of d2123 Bulleid semi open brake 3rds. These will top and tail the 1960 boat train. No bogies as Rod wants to build his own compensated ones so there is consistency within the rakes.
  16. You won’t be able to solder the roof to the sides and ends as normal solder / flux does not work with aluminium. I strengthen my roof / side joins with araldite. If you do the same be sure to leave enough clearance for the glazing.
  17. Be careful using superglue when soldering. I believe that if you heat superglue it releases cyanide. This is a great hobby but it is not worth dying for.
  18. Many thanks. I was looking for a dedicated page like those for some of the other layouts in the mag.
  19. Hi, I may be being a bit dense but I’m struggling to find a link to the Little Bytham video on the digital version (via pocket mags). Any help much appreciated (as this is the main reason I purchased this months mag). Thanks.
  20. I’d guess the d504 is the Bachmann model. The only thing giving it away is the thicker roof profile of the kit based brakes. But they are all to a consistent (very high) standard and show excellent modelling.
  21. Edited your post to embed the videos.
  22. Thanks John. It is water slide (not yours. I bought some fox ones before I realised you produced coach lining). I will try your method and report back. Much appreciated
