  1. Sadly, due to customs paperwork incomplete due to the waiver part being removed by Customs on their return last year, both layouts from the Netherlands, Ted Polet's Creag Dhubh Summit and Lucien Eijdems Yurze Ore Mine are now unable to attend the exhibition this weekend.
  2. last nights marathon tiling effort Here we go . . .
  3. https://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/227-other-scenery I bought the 4000 pack! https://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/miniature-bricks/3428-miniature-bricks-grey-x4000-148.html
  4. I know we are up against the NEC monster show but if you like something a little more relaxing there’s NGSouth :)
  5. Loads of detailing to do still, Signalbox, figures and weathering for a start but it will hopefully be entertaining.
  6. I mentioned up the thread somewhere that I’d made the slightly potty decision to use individual bricks for the platform edging so after all the glue and paint that could wreck them I started . . . Laying them individually was back breaking so I came up with an idea that let me sit comfortably in the chair with a piece of 20mm angle and drop a pile in and slowly work them along held in place by gravity in the V. I could make up 6 inch sections and then brushed pva gently along at a shallow angle that stopped me picking up the bricks, yes that took experimentation 🤣 I set that aside to dry and did another set and then ‘decanted’ the first one onto paper to finish drying. This set to a flexible strip that was then glued to the layout with a bead of pva along the edge of the platform. So overall there’s about 10 ½ ft and approx 1700 bricks and it took about seven hours! But it’s so much better than the scribed option so now I’m slightly cross eyed but happy 😝 Oh and I made some bufferstops from 10mm square strip pine.
  7. The show guide 😀 NGS_2024_Exhibition_Guide-compressed.pdfNGS_2024_Exhibition_Guide-compressed.pdf
  8. Your solution sounds good but a backup would be to build it around a Perspex box tube inset in 10mm from the sides so it doesn’t reflect light but sits hidden in the shadows.
  9. I added some hedges and brambles. Rubberised Coconut fibre with the sheets torn in half to get two equal size rectangles Then torn up and stretched pva jabbed on liberally And then rolled and sprinkled with foliage And the publicity shot for the show
  10. Been laying’ turf . . And some goods stock
  11. Well a result in that I figured out that to wire a Cobalt accessory switch you want the contacts wired the opposite way round to the rails! (I’m using the switch rather than the DCC frog option so I can run the points, signals and routes off DCC while powering the rails from DC or DCC). So all wired and tested and adjusted.
  12. all wiring complete and it’s wired for dc so I can power the track with dc and isolating section and and separately run the points and signals off DCC for full route control. Testing the route programmes
  13. Well I had an invoice Monday so I guess they are close . .
  14. They may well run on it at home along with the rest of the O16.5 and Oe collection but not out n about 😉 Funny you should say that, I mentioned elsewhere that Mr Sheep’s shelf projects had given me an idea to mount a small shunting puzzle in a slightly different way. There may be trouble ahead . .
  15. A pile of woodwork for the legs and cassettes done yesterday plus plastering the last board. Today saw all three corners wired up with the banana plug bus on each side and the station throat board all wired 😀 Nothing exciting to photograph but all useful ticks off the list. Hopefully wiring finished tomorrow and then the fun greenery and details all that’s left.
  16. Ooh now I’ve gone all gooey 🤣 I’ve had an idea based on one of your shelves but not necessarily actually on it . . . 🤫
  17. 😉 You have actually read this thread? 😆 It’s just the range name rather than the model creating it 🤣 😂
  18. It’s a marketing ‘hook’ not renaming the gauge. If you hear about it and search NG7 it takes you direct to Bachmann, not any competitors. If you search O16.5 or 016.5 you get everyone else AND Bachmann’s range 😉 It just works with the way the internet searches are prioritised.
  19. Four of the five boards are now ready for greenery!
  20. Ballasting . . . saturating . . . & terraforming today! 😆
  21. A long time ago yes but the majority from the last 15-20 years also do dc.
