I agree Legend, not Rails fault in anyway. I had my order in several hours after it was first advertised and was showing pending for about a week before showing confirmed........ I understand this loco was very popular so would of thought Hornby could of increased the production run and not decreased it.

Light loco is being dispatched on monday to fetch the wagons at Trowse. Will not be me, im off to Broxbourne on another stone job....

Normally I pick the train up at Peterborough but on thursday I went to Loughborough by van only to be informed the ground staff could not get to Trowse (again) so the job was cancelled....... Back in van to Peterborough and home by 10am so not a bad day for me :-)

Hello beast66606. More stunning pictures :-) We had trouble with the ground staff getting to Trowse on time from Leicester so unloading time was cut very short and due to us having very old wagons with buckeye couplings the whole train had to be empty in order to run back to Tunstead rather than split the train and run the empty half back and leave the full half to be emptied another time...... So tomorrow the loco will run light to Trowse and return with the second half, thats if a driver is available to cover the job. If not it will be me again light loco on Thursday :-)

Does anyone know if Kernows are still doing the coaches for this weedkilling train? I purchased the class 20 loco pack and the water tanks under the impression the coaches were to follow, but its all been a while and its gone very quiet.

They are spot on Bruce, thanks very much for sharing. They are superb photos i can clearly see the errors of the Hornby model now.

I should add the photos i have looked at so far, none of them has been 50 048.

Good afternoon, Does anybody have a photo of 50 048 (real loco in ONSE) they could upload on here. I am looking to see a straight side on veiw if possible, as need to see what colour the vents are (one on bottom of roof) and also have a look at the upswept NSE stripes at the cab ends. From the thousands i have looked at all the locos are slightly differant and as they are on an angle impossible to tell properly...... Darren.

I came up with a plan, i was going to buy 50 048 and then heavy weather it, but looking at lots of real photos of the 50s it seems they was always kept really clean (with the odd exception). So maybe if i was to purchase it, just give it a touch up with a darker shade of blue and repaint the side grills and vents the proper colour. Once again thanks for your help. Darren

Hi everyone. Can i ask a few questions about the Hornby class 50s. Firstly i have several Bachmann mk 2 NSE coaches which are Dark blue, and i noticed in the shops there is a Class 50 048 in NSE light blue..... Is this just a difference between Hornby and Bachmann blue or was there different shades of blue on the real locos?? Secondly, i have noticed on here it has been mentioned 50 048 is an unpopoular model, any reason why?? and lastly (thank god i hear you cry) the difference between origional NSE and the revised NSE, were they different periods of livery or were locos mix and match through out there career??
