  1. Quick search on Google lead me to the link below... http://www.lirrhistory.com/Bayridge.html Lieberman-Koren Scrap Metal. It is certainly a good way of getting a scrap industry in to small space. Good find.
  2. I was looking into using cheap disposable latex gloves a while ago for a project that I needed curtains for. They are easy to come by and are thin and flexible. Everything else I looked at was to rigid, mainly thin plastics from packaging. Superb build thus far as well. Check in on this thread weekly for progress and the nostalgic asides it gives as well.
  3. Have you considered 3D printing the shed front? Maybe worth looking into. Not sure of the capabilities but would be exact for your needs. Superb thread by the way. Are you still planning on having operating shutters on the shed? Remember in one incarnation you had an etch made up for the parts. Steven
  4. Paul, Paste the below in to Bing or Google maps 51.530487, 0.106499 If you rotate the view in Bing you will see the Cartics clearly. If you 'Streetview' in Google on Wivenhoe road you will see the vans there. Looking from Alfreds Way you can just see a overgrown shrubbery, may be underneath it all. Steven
  5. Looking at Bing maps there are two Cartics and various other wagons & vans there. Suspect they will still be there as the track appears not to be connected and there is no direct road access to remove them by other means (cutting up).
  6. Are we going to see individual planks cut and lapped Ron? Superb craftsmanship as always. Having been to Manchester recently and seen some of the structures you have embarked upon on recreating being in 'complete awe' does not come close now!!!
  7. This would be a superb challenge for next year, only use what is in the box. I had a hope that the 2012 challenge may have been best use of an oval track to tie in with the athletics at the Olympics stadium. All in this is a superb build which defeats all of the three bridges to cross (that I always see anyway) in actually building something.... Not enough space - defeated Not enough time - defeated Not enough money - defeated This is what made such a good thread to follow for me. I am now sitting at home with a box of bit's and a plank of wood......! Note: plank of wood is an actual plank, not a reference to a person!!!!
  8. Perhaps having them in just a few of the pits? They are not all on the last pics you have linked too. Stupendous work as always though, would be a shame to think after 'If only I'd.....'!
  9. Loving this layout and thread, all looks superb. Like the fact you can see along a line weaving it's way through the landscape. Mod-roc also makes for a good scenic snow effect in your pics as well, who needs green!
  10. Brilliant modelling on the station, take it all has been scratch-built there too? Will there more photo's posted?
  11. Hi jacking the thread I feel to add to the wishlist! Anyway, having just scratch built a dock/quayside warehouse I would like to see of a kit of a similar vein please? Quite common from what I have seen over the years and could easily be made to fit any/most areas. Plenty of variation on the panels as well to allow them to be solid, windows, doors or loading docks etc. Link in my signature shows my thread with an example
  12. Have just realised I could cut a 20"x11" chunk out of my desk! It's covered in railway related items from magazines to half finished models, could be a still life along the lines of Tracey Emin!!! Job done Steven
  13. If it was a shoebox challenge then I could at least twenty as there are numerous boxes at the end of the bed with who knows what cost in them Steven
  14. An excellent challenge and it has motivated me to actually do something. Had a stab at the wedding day challenge when it was on but shelved where that was going for this. Having a size constraint that not even the missus can moan about really focuses the mind. The fact it can be anything railway related and operational or not means there is scope for every budget, ability and interest. As I've taken a piece of Bishopsgate for mine it is allowing me to trial many new things but in a small space with a purpose and hopefully will have a good result at the end of it. Let's be honest who would have done something in a 20"x11" space before this was posted as a 'challenge', except for those with a spare boxfile! The 'go on, I dare you' element is all to much!
  15. 4.5 metres! You'll wipe out a branch of Oddbins when you stress test the finished article Brilliant as ever. Steven
