Shepcote Lane coil sidings

Recommended Posts

Many years ago we started a layout based on the coil unloading sidings that were at the end of Tinsley yard and can be viewed from the M1 motorway  , we started the layout but built it on a single baseboard , which was far too big and bulky , so a mark 2 version was started about a year or so ago . Progress has been slow to non existent for a while now , but the idea and planning will all come together one day . The layout is 8ft long on two 4ft boards with just one line which uses Peco code 75 bullhead track and will feature a working overhead crane to unload the imported semi finished stainless coils . Having gathered a vast amout of information over the years , i'm always looking for any additional info on this location , be it workings , locos , wagons etc .

I am looking to find out if VTG KIA ferrywagons  ( as per Dapol model ) ever went here to be loaded with export coil ,as i've seen photos of the mid to late 1980's of them in the yard at Tinsley .
