Hunslet 102
Great pics, one of the best era's for NIR with the variety of stock on show, great memories. Nice scene from the County Down also, you have a layout and loco stud to be proud off.
kirley
Long over due work on the Layout. After prevaricating for the past few years I've finally made a long over due start to finishing the layout build. To begin I've started to weather the track but two bottles of sleeper grime did not last long, So still loads to do. I always wanted Telegraph Poles so I bought Dapol and Ratio kits and had the joy of painting them. Painting the insulator pots is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and I needed magnifiers to do them. Next was something easier on the eyes, Trees amongst a forest of Seafoam. I cleared the middle section of the Layout for track spraying but was struck by the look of the empty space, perhaps too evocative of the real thing, see what you think.
Hunslet 102
Kieran-a layout is never finished! Nice job with the trees and telegraph poles and yes the empty freight yard is strikingly too realistic. I like your long beet train, with your 121 and 141, yet another distant memory from the past. Hi Kieran, less can be more and the irish railway system rarely looked busy - certainly nto outside Dublin or Belfast! Colm
kirley
Connected up a branch to the old engine shed. Starting adding some Telegraph Poles, is the spacing between them OK?
Hunslet 102
Spacing of the poles looks fine to me Kieran, nice addition with the engine shed, I am sure it will be well used with the stud of steamers you are accumulating!
kirley
Greening Kirley Junction The refurbishment of the layout continues concentrating on the scenics, ground cover, bushes and trees. The new trees were added but they quickly disappeared, could have done with 3 times as many.
Hunslet 102
Nice pics Kieran, particularly like photo 5,the gentle curves of the tracks with the landscape blending in with the backscene is just perfect, well done and keep up the good work
RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted September 27, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 27, 2016 Beautiful layout, like your landscape and the back scene! You have also a great space for the layout. And photos as well as videos are very good. Regards Vecchio

kirley
Put up extra shelving so I could have all the rolling stock in easy reach. I've run out of room and there is still stock in boxes. Must be getting near time to call a halt to collecting! I spent ages trying to wire micro LED's into SSM's Ground Signals, tested them and them placed then near the TMD. Not wired in yet but there are 4 there.

colmflanagan
It's looking well now. I like the increased sense of "space" many layouts are rather spoiled by being too cluttered - if they are meant to be outside a busy urban area! Colm
kirley
Some CIE Steam power in this video. Apologies for the length, it was only when I finished the edit did I realise it was over 6 mins long. Please let me know what you think about the length?
