Crook street.

Thought it was time i posted some pics. of my progress so far, Crook Street is a small goods yard in the North West of England in the late seventies, now turned into a small stabling point/ fueling point, my intention was to go as basic as possible and relearn the skills from years ago, layout is DC for now, poin twork is worked by the giant finger in the sky  :D to keep things as simple as possible, i only have a small space to house the layout though there will be an extension of a few feet soon, i wanted to capture the untidy and run down look and it was important to me not to fill all the space with track as i want to build the  terraced houses and streets in the undeveloped area that i ran around as a kid,

Very nice Steve,

Presume this is OO?  Really got the makings of a nice small feeling point in that run-down railway yard look :)  Bit of a fan of the North West rail scene and BR blue .. keep up informed on the progress!

So i thought it would be a good idea to post this in the correct section! This is my attempt to recreate the North West of England in the late seventies, layout is oo gauge and DC, the points are all operated by the finger in the sky there being only three of them and within easy reach, i only have eight feet to play with though i will be adding a few feet extra later, the intention is to potray an ex goods yard of the type that were scattered around Bolton in my youth, turned into a refueling/ stabling point, i want to capture the run down look of the time and it is important to me to have the railway set in a typical terraced houses/ cobbled streets scenario, you wont see a lot of locos here but a lot of locos on and off depot for fueling, hence i resisted the temptation fill as much space as possible with track and kept simple,

Update time, spent the last few weeks laying the cobbles in the bare area ready for the terraced houses scene, put together the Metcalfe terraced shops, excellent kits but it helps if you study the instructions properly unlike me !!! should have them finished by weekend then they can be glued down, spent the weekend improving a Lima class 37 i bought secondhand but she is waiting for some decals before i can finish her off, my first road vehicles finally arrived today, very clean but that wont last,

Hi Steve,

Well done on the Class 25 repaint - looks lovely.  Im very envious of people who can repaint and weather locos and stock!  A skill I'm very nervous about attempting, having never done it before, and not really knowing where to start!  Yours looks superb tho - as so the low relief shops.  Coming on well now - as the saying goes ... Carry on that man!

Thanks Steve

Its that first step!  Jumping in and wrecking something.  With being O gauge and the higher cost of things, i don't want to wreck anything!  Do you airbrush yours?  If so, do you mind if i ask what you use?
