I lived in Grassmoor not to far from Clay cross my Bedroom window Faced the MML so could see train all day until dark my dad had an interest in Railways so would walk to the field between Avenue sidings and the MML so we could watch the coal trains going onto the Plant and still watch train pass on the mainline . My Secondary school was Deincourt in North Wingfield which was up the incline from the site of Clay cross Station and from School I could watch trains from the classrooms . Most Saturdays my dad took me out spotting around the UK via Cheap tickets with a Family Railcard as children could travel anywhere on the network for only a £1 . What great memories .

  15. I really like the picture with the class 08 shunting the sleepers with the Class 57 in the background .
  16. Kev there is some super photo's there I will have a really good look through but i've just found one from very close to were I grew up its the one of 47582 On the Parcels at mill lane Tupton. I lived on Whitmore Ave Grassmoor right next to Mill lane and watched trains from my house while ever it was light enough to see them
  17. Great photo's I like the one with the class 37 with the tube stock returning to London after overhaul . I was down the this morning to photograph a class 69 69010 I know what you mean about the security fencing had to poke my camera through to get the shot.

  19. Hi thanks John so I thought aswell but that was the works of Hurst nelson a Motherwell based wagon builder the works were called Chatsworth wagon works . The derelict buildings are still there to this day . The works of Derbyshire carriage and wagon works were down South street north New Whittington right next to what was New Whittington station the buildings are still in use today by a number of businesses one of them being Chesterfield crane company . thanks Andrew
  20. Now that looks Hoover-tastic . I have 008 in departmental blue and could be very tempted to have it resprayed like that as 044 . love the picture updates keep them coming .
