Guest nzflyer
Hello chaps, I'm planning a layout that isn't exactly on the cards but I needed some assistance. My prototype is the Didcot, Newbury & Southampton Railway and I was considering either modelling one of the through stations on the line or a ficitional spur from the line. I used the brillant GWR Modelling website to help me in planning this but I was curious as to if anyone has any photos or designs of the buildings of the DN&SR. I'm interested in station buildings but moreso in signal boxes, goods sheds, storage sheds, huts of any description, water towers, yard cranes, bridges, tunnels and level crossings. I'm sure something that will come up but as I am an international modeller I have some difficulty in acquiring certain resources like books. Any help would be appreciated! nicktamarensis
Hi, Have you a copy of the excellent Wild Swan book on the subject? It covers most of the things you are after. I used to live not far away from the northern section of the line and have some c1980's/1990's colour photographs of the surviving stations at Compton and Hermitage if these are any help. Contact me off topic. Nick
