Evening all,

Made my monthly visit to Coleborne tonight, remembered my camera so have taken a few pictures for you all.

Progress since my last visit, one of the station canopies has been scratch built, there are still a few more to go but I know Nick has learnt a lot from doing this one and wil be going about the other one slightly differently.

The backscene has been painted and put in place, still a bit more to do with the town, like lining up the pavements and painting the roads, placing seagulls etc, I think that it was decided Brian would be in charge of seagulling!

Coleborne now has its staion signs, Nick managed to knock up the first running board and can be seen in the first picture below. (yet to be painted I might add)

Final one is of a freight train approaching Coleborne at speed, (wish I could tell you more but a steam train is a steam train to me, my ignorance I know)

The engine shed looks very realistic, a good use of space. In the photos of the water crane and the two railwaymen standing by the end shed you can sense the dampness on the ground and in the air - quite literally a very atmospheric series of photographs.

Hi all

update on Colborne. Our freind Brian (the painter) has made some more progess on the back scene of Colborne town, think it looks very good.

Brian ( wireman) is making good progress with the island platform buildings, They are made from modified superquick card kits . He is also fitting a motor to the turntable, some problem with drive coupling. We are also building the second conopy around the ticket office/main entrance , hopefully

Scott (pitbull) the film director will take some pics of the construction. Graham (Pooleboy) has been working on the stations running in board nice job ,the names we had printed by Station signs (really good). Hope to have more news and pics soon.

Hi Rich

Many thanks for your comments. The ash in and around the shed and the disposal area has been created by using real ash from my wood burning stove. I filled an old ice cream container with selected ash, selected being, the differing shades e.g. white , light gray, dark gray, black, and if more cinders are needed i used woodland senics fine cinders . The application of the ash is the same as ballasting, form the shape you require, mist with water then add P.V.A leave for about 48 hour ,job complete.Hope this has been some help, lets know how you get on,good luck.

Good evening,

I managed to make an appearance at Coleborne tonight, as did my trusty camera... So I took a few pics while I was there. Had a bit of a running session tonight although some little jobs were done like weathering buildings for example. Oh and Wiremans speciality tonight "crashing trains". Pooleboy also brought along a new toy with sound.. Below is a picture of the unusual visitor. No prizes for guessing which country it came from!

The platform canopies are coming along well, Trackbed has done very well for a first time scratch builder. There are a few pictures to come in the future showing the process of building them.

Here are a few shots from tonight:

Morning,

Missed out on last weeks meet up at Coleborne, wont be there this week either due to work so thought I would post a few pictures of the canopy and stages of its progress. I know Trackbed has spent a lot of time on it, being his first attempt at scratchbuilding there were a few trial and error moments at the start.

I wont go into the stages, hopefully the pictures will give a bit of a clue but if there are questions then I'm sure Trackbed (Nick) will be more than happy to explain.

2. The skeleton

4. Another shot showing it in its temporary position.

5. Coming together nicely with a bit of southern green paint and the edging (cant think of the correct term) in place.

6. A view from the station approach.

I'm sure when I return there will be a further update to photograph, should look really good when all 3 platforms are done.

Finally a shot of the shed at the other end of the layout.

Well I managed to get to Coleborne last night, the intention of this post was to put a picture of the previously posted canopy but now in its finished state and in place on the platform, but despite taking 20 plus pictures of the layout I never actually took a picture of the canopy! Don't know how that happened??? Or didn't happen...

Instead I present to you a picture taken by Wireman (using my camera) which I think is rather nice..

And for those of you who prefer colour..

More to follow in a few days...

Lots of little things were done last night, lamp posts on the platforms, additional bits to the benches and little signs added to the station and canopy and also some crazy game of move the man!

For those not familiar please see the picture below!

post-6849-0-52323100-1328193358.jpg

He was also seen in a tractor and on top of an open top bus... amongst other places....

Thats it for now, Nick if your reading this feel free to email me a picture of the missing canopy..

Cheers
