Loved the videos (on top of the usual excellent photos of course!).

I particularly like the broad sweep of the station on a curve on this layout - and if there's ever a chance one day of a clip with a couple of passenger trains there I'd love to see them.

Thanks for keeping us updated on this impressive layout Pittbull, I always look forward to news from Coleborne Junction :)

Thanks chaps,

I'm sure Nick and the team will be pleased with the feedback.

Southernboy I'm sure I can arrange a couple of pics of the station with some passenger services..

Hopefully in the new year work will start on the branch line, which will add another dimension to the layout and is all rather exciting.

Cheers.

Scott

Morning,

Had a visit to the junction last night.. Trackbed was in his Steven Spielberg mode, and was doing some filming of the trains, so it was a bit of a running night.

Things of note since the last visit.

Trackbed has had a go at weathering a Q1 using an airbrush and tamiya powders.

I think he's done a good job, only another 40 or so locos to go!

Work has also started on a new box for the layout.

Nothing else really, so here are a couple of photos of the station with a couple of passengers services waiting for the off.

Evening,

First visit of the year to Coleborne Junction, sadly it was only a flying one.

Only thing to report is that the signal box is just about done. Tonight was the fixing of the internal light. Not exactly Blackpool illuminations but gave that early hours of the morning glow. When I left they were in the process of upgradinging the bulb..

The box itself originated as a Metcalfe kit but has been bashed about somewhat by Nick.

A path is also in the middle of being layed to link the box up with the barrow crossing at the station..

Cheers,

Scott

I'll let Nick answer that one.... I'm just the photographer...

Hi, thanks for the pictures Scott.

The signalbox is not modelled on any actual location, but hopefully resembles something along the lines of an S.R. signalbox.

I did use some reference books to create the model.

Any comments are always appreciated.

I'm refering to the window frames... very GW but then Yeovil Junction was very GW in appearance and your box is very reminiscent of the cabin at this very Southern Railway mainline location :good:

Other SR boxes had GW heritage of course, Upwey and Broadwey immediately springs to mind (and many SR boxes on the LSWR mainline of course went the other way but the less said about the dreadful act the better :ireful:)

Cheers

Evening,

Popped over to Coleborne for a couple of hours this evening, only had my phone with me and the battery was low but managed a few pictures. They all involve the signal box. Now that the grain of wheat hasreplaced the LED in  does look a lot better.

A very clean "C" class leaving the station to head up the branch. Looks like th ecrew have freshly laundered overalls too... I;m sure it wont be long before the loco and crew get dirty!

Cheers for now.

PS - had a few issues with some of the photos uploading, saying they were too big?? never had that problem before and using the same method.  weird...

Morning,
Had my March visit on Thursday, we removed the turntable as it is still causing problems, thankfully it came out ok with little disruption.  The brick card inner wall has been removed to see if this was the cause. Its still under investigation at the moment.  I have suggested that the turntable be replaced with a diesel re-fuelling point, but this was frowned upon by the elders.

The other thing that has happened is the stock drawers have been finished so everything that was stored in the depot has now been put away, the same goes for the fiddle yard. It's made a world of difference with the operating, all be it only a brief operating spell...

I have posted some pictures (pre TT removal) below to show the empty shed. The theory less is more is very true and the aim is to have no more than 6-7 locos on shed at any one time.

It will be another few weeks before I return due to the Easter break, hopefully I'll be able to report on the TT progress.

Cheers

Good work on the signal box.i too have the same signal box and have altered it to suit and was thinking about adding the interior but was not

sure if it would be worth it, but now i have seen yours in all its glory including the interior i have to say its a no brainer.

Can i ask what brand of interior you used as it looks great.i have seen a few metal kits on the shelf but they did not look that great?

Hi Terry, thanks for the comments. I think it's a good idea to detail the inside.  We scratch-built the lever frame and the bell and indicator shelf, and used a Wills detail kit for all the other components. It's also important to illuminate the box to highlight the internal detail. Good luck with your project! Regards, Nick

As Scott has already said, the turntable has been a problem for some time, but little things like the station canopies, signal box, stock drawers etc. have all eaten away with the time. However it is out, and work to put it back has begun. If anyone has any suggestions or tips on refitting please drop us a reply. We aim to run it through a DCC chip so that  operation can be from the main controller or one of the slave units. Regards Brian

Well good evening,

It's been a while but I finally got an hour at Coleborne..

The Turntable has indeed been refitted and I did see it in operation, so thats a good thing.

The depot buildings have had lights fitted and details inside added. Some of which is scratch built. like the large bench. I have taken a few photos, they were taken on my phone so not the highest res but they give a good impression of the layouts added features.

Here Goes.

Welcome to the Depot. Please abide by the rules.

There was also some electrial wizardry going on too re track detection...  Should be good when it's done.

Thats it for now, next time I'll take my real camera and try some better shots of within the depot.

Cheers
