RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted April 12, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) With the new Stadler EMUs on order the Ge4/4ii's from the 1973 batch are to start being retired According to one of the guys who's a driver "Current official policy is that 611-620 will not receive further upgrades and will be phased out when the new train sets are here and running. 621-633 remain part of the fleet." backofanenvelope
Stadler EMU initial concept http://www.railwaygazette.com/news/traction-rolling-stock/single-view/view/rhaetische-bahn-orders-27-stadler-emus.html Given the introduction of the Allegras I wondered how long it would be before the started removing the mkII's. But the concept is more pleasing to the eye than the Allegras

But the concept is more pleasing to the eye than the Allegras Oh I dunno I quite like the aggressive look of the Allegra compared to the smooth concept here. Mind you the Allegra changed quite a bit from initial drawing
backofanenvelope
Mind you the Allegra changed quite a bit from initial drawing True, I don't know what it was but I just couldn't love the Allegra So we'll have to see how this turns out. And then there's whether or not Kato will get in on it..

MartinB
After a week there recently, I'd say approx. 50% of the trains on the Albula are Allegras. I certainly enjoyed the ride down the Albula on one of them where the driver kindly kept the blinds open, but I have to say, my camera spent more time in it's bag than on previous trips. I also wonder how long the Ge 6/6 IIs will survive. Edited September 11, 2017 by MartinB

Are the new fixed coach sets in use too yet? Yes, again about 50% of the trains are made up of the fixed sets.....they are nice and very comfortable but a soulless. All the new driving coaches seemed to be in Landquart for commissioning.....As you say, the times are a changing.

MartinB
It was also announced that work had started on doubling the line between Samedan and Bever to improve the flow and punctuality of trains on the Albula and Engadin. I guess a lot of the spoil from the new Albula tunnel will find itself being used there

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted December 29, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 29, 2018 (edited) I noticed the trackplans on these maps are right up to date when you zoom right in and even include the new Albula tunnel running parallel but not yet connected. https://map.schweizmobil.ch/?lang=en&bgLayer=pk&season=summer&resolution=10&E=2772992&N=1171672 Edited December 29, 2018 by PaulRhB
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted April 15, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 15, 2019 The Capricorn unit. Personally it looks a bit urrggh compared to the dynamic Allegra front. Doesn’t make me ‘want’ a model http://www.bahnonline.ch/bo/55488/roll-out-fluegeltriebzug-die-rhaetische-bahn-und-stadler-praesentieren-erstmals-den-neuen-zug-capricorn.htm?fbclid=IwAR38SnR_2o65gtwnAuIOZTRwqJYLAXMwKbJfvWELtYu1flhijg2cY2Wf9eg 2
