RMweb Premium MJI Posted December 31, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 31, 2017 (edited) Thought I better start a thread here as well for my kit built and semi scratch stuff My kit and scratch list includes the PWM with its own thread (DIY stoppped progress, now need good weather for spraying) The Dapol based crane And the first one GRCW 119 DMU Worseley Works etches, Lima chassis, bogies a mix Here is the Centre car a Buffet second lavatory Power car, this will have the motor DMBC And the bare etches for the DMSL Chassis for the centre car, originally one of the pair made into a 116 or 127 trailer (3 cars = 2 116 or 127) Chassis for the power car bought from a remotoring person, I will most likely fit a High Level box Other chassis needs to be found, was bought with chopped up body, I used parts for B430s DMS. I suspect the loft. And a bogie side frame, I have 8 I think so far Edited July 4, 2021 by MJI

RMweb Premium MJI Posted December 31, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 31, 2017 Bogies Lima too thin and I do not have enough I had 2 spare Hornby 110 wrong version Trix Trans Pennine, something looked odd. So decided to do my own. Will use 5 dummy boiges and a kit power bogie. And 12 home made sideframes. Nearest design in Lima, so chopped one around and made it thicker.

Tempfix Rich Papper Posted February 27, 2018 Tempfix Share Posted February 27, 2018 Hi Martin, Thanks for pointing me at this - looking good already. My plan is to use some cut and shut Hornby 110 bodies (as I happen to have some). Will need to make the windows a bit shallower which might be a bit of a pain but not the stupidest thing I've ever attempted. For the distinctive and quite luxurious seats I have picked up some from Southern Pride. Also picked up some mk1 coach ends as these looked a good shape although will need to file the steps off. Good luck with yours, mine is about third in the queue of jobs at the moment. Rich
RMweb Premium MJI Posted May 5, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2018 An update with pictures later Triang roofs They fit just right. need a lot of filing of the inside to thin them at one end, and filing the 119 end a bit as well, and thin plastic card to space things out Currentlt sitting here with a mould on the roof. Tempfix Rich Papper Posted May 6, 2018 Tempfix Share Posted May 6, 2018 Great pictures, and looking good so far. You've got me interested in the windows. The second picture down looks like the bottom edge of the saloon windows is level with the bottom edge of the cab front windows. Is this the case or is it a trick of the camera? Very curious as I had assumed that the Hornby 110 bodies I'm planning to fettle mine out of had saloon windows that were too deep, but offering them up to the Derby style front end they seem to be the same. My alternative is to make them all shallower and cut down the glazing so if this isn't necessary I'll be a very happy person! Thanks- you'll beat me to it either way! Tempfix Rich Papper Posted May 6, 2018 Tempfix Share Posted May 6, 2018 I would totally agree, I just seem to be on a roll with fettling plastic at the moment so will give it a go. I don't think there is much in it with the windows. If you look at this pic on Marton Loader's excellent site here (albeit not the main subject of the image), it does look like the level of the front and side windows are close at the bottom edge. Without the aid of proper drawings I think we're talking less than half a mm in OO. The 110 windows I'm planning working from are definitely shallower than the Bachmann 108 so I think I can live with it too. Good luck! Rich

RMweb Premium MJI Posted November 23, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2019 Now started to mass produce seats, but had problems with poor moulding. Spent a usefull 20 minutes chatting to Graeme of V2 fame about casting.
RMweb Premium MJI Posted February 16, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 16, 2020 The DMBC interior is complete except cab bits and some representation of brake area. Will not do brake area until motor bogie fitted. The TSLB is nearly done need to add 3 more paired seats and 4 seperate 2 seats. Also need a one window partition by the buffet. The not shown DMSL is currently weghted down having partitions fitted. Decided on 1 x LoRider 3 pairs MJT bogie frames, 12 axles of Gibson DMU wheels. Cannot use Lima bogies as I do not have enough and they are a bit anemic anyway. 1
