Gremlin
Hi Is there a fitting guide for wiring a DCC chip for this DCC-incompatible loco? Alternatively, can someone recommend a place to do such an installation? Cheers

RMweb Premium Kris Posted September 8, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 8, 2018 It's not a complex fit for a DIY job. I can't remember where the instructions came from.
Gremlin
It's not a complex fit for a DIY job. I can't remember where the instructions came from. If you could possibly recall...that would help before I demolish the loco and then find that it is a large job Just need to understand how much isolation is required before I pull it to bits... RMweb Premium Kris Posted September 9, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 9, 2018 I'm pretty sure that they came from a magazine, and that the article was then put onto the Dapol website. Having just checked it no longer appears to be there. From memory you need to chop out the diode used for interference suppression. once done you solder the wires from the decoder to the appropriate terminals. The chip ends up in the cab and is visible. I did convert mine 10 years ago so the memory is a little hazy, but the same principle is used for the 45xx and M7, and I have done these far more recently.
