47606odin
Well today was a little more tinkering. We have clasp brakes fitted. Just a couple of bits to represent rigging either side of the axles, and safety loops

P.C.M
Hi Ian, That's come up a treat. I am tempted to have a go at fitting Vac brake to my old kit now. Where did you get the clasp brakes from? Cheers Peter.

47606odin
That’s the brakes finished, gussets made and fitted (none in the kit) door springs shaped and glued on. Lamp brackets made as again, none in the kit due to the kit being an unfitted wagon. thought I was done, but realised I haven’t made the steps yet
sb67
Some great modelling there 47606odin, the wagon is looking fantastic. Steve.
47606odin
Thanks Steve for the compliment. Here’s a video update making steps for the Grampus
sb67
Thanks for that Steve, it's always good to see a 'how to' Was that a gas soldering iron? I've never seen one used before. Looking forward to seeing the wagon painted and weathered. Steve.
47606odin
Well that was distressing
47606odin
Well into my paint box we go. having got the grey on, and everything blended together, I am very happy with the look I have achieved. You can also see why loco and wagon builders always painted locos in grey for publicity photos, as it really makes detail pop out
47606odin
Got the base rust colour applied. I have used 2 slightly different shades of Tamils acrylics, it’s a shame the model shop here now only supplies Humbrol enamels, as I quite like the acrylics I am going to try the salt chipping method on this. Never done it before I also suspect people are getting fed up with all my Grampus pics Edited March 16, 2019 by 47606odin Added more pics
47606odin
Add the salt, then spray the green and running gear i really like the shadow on the inside of the door
47606odin
Salt cleaned off. Happy with that, and unfortunately that is that until I can get some transfers
sb67
Never tire of seeing the Grampus pictures. All looks good 47606odin. Steve.
47606odin
As a change from the Grampus, back to correcting the class 60’s livery It will be nice to get 60001 done. I now have everything in place except the sound chip
47606odin
The objective first is to feather out the border between the light and dark grey, which is why it looks a little patchy
47606odin
Today, sprayed the upper band and remove the masking tape Looking good on this side but.... Unfortunately I forgot to trim the masking tape above the clean air grille, so I will have to blow over this part, but you can see the difference of the dark grey between Heljan colour, and Railmatch Flint Grey and below, disaster. The very last piece of tape. Botheration! and you you can see the massive difference between the shades of rail grey. this has now been rubbed down and light grey resprayed. I will now wait a couple of days before I try the flint grey again

Cheers, Ade. Its not the end the end of the world. I have already rubbed down and resprayed the Rail Grey. When I am home in a couple of days, I’ll do the 2 flint grey areas, then hopefully I can move forward with the transfers for 001 Edited March 23, 2019 by 47606odin
