Farish and Dapol Boxes - Recyclable?

I have accumulated a lot of the rigid clear plastic boxes that come with Dapol and Farish locos etc, many of them empty and no longer required. 

 

Is the plastic recyclable in the domestic Council recycling bin or are they only regrettably going to landfill?

I can't help with the UK, but here in Japan they wouldn't count as plastic recyclables.

 

Have you thought about selling them? There is some demand for empty boxes.

It depends on what your council will accept. Contact them as to what they will accept.

Take a look on the German Ebay, there is a vibrant market for empty (leere) Fleischmann, Roco, Minitrix, etc. boxes. Not sure the same can be said for the UK.

I agree. I have sold empty boxes in the past. They don't go for a huge amount but enough to be worth the effort of selling IMO.

Unless you are very pushed for storage, keep them as they may yet come in handy if you need to store the stock for a period or to move home.  My own life has been disrupted in this way and the future is never as certain as you thought it was (likes mixing up my tenses in a sentence, me).   Regard them as an insurance policy that you hopefully don't ever need, but will need a lot if you do!
