91108 is back in service, taking over from 91129 on the 1Y38 Newcastle - Kings Cross at Doncaster.  I don’t know how long the reprieve will last.

Until 31st July apparently.

91008 on one of the first class 91 hauled trains to York when running round the signal man put it up the Scarborough line thus loosing its pantograph on the station roof

Erm, less a case of breaking it's pan than that road isn't wired!?

The last photo definitely shows a broken pan so presumably the loco headed down the wrong track, the pan sprung up & struck something.

Post 'header' said Bobby sent it down there so you are both correct.

Apologies Mr. Brace, I didn't read the post as was meant!

Bit of a fubar all round though, had the driver been route savvy enough I'm sure he'd been happy to explain to the Bobby why going that way wouldn't be wise, with colourful language, natch!

I think so Phil, white roofed IC charter stock. Six-Bells might bring up the tour if John can supply a date.

I'm on fire! Date is in the pictures!

A bit of both really, because that road isnt wired the pan extended and hit the canopy breaking the head off.

Always good when there is a new type of traction introduced and everyone is on a steep learning curve, just as we are having to do with the sHitachis.

No need for the driver to accept the route though so tea and biscuits all round, no doubt followed by a bloody good laugh at the situation.

At a guess 28-09-89 going by the captions on the photos.

Nothing on six bells so it might just be a driver training run, the driver no doubt learned quite a lot that day.

Further, there is no entry for that date on Six-Bells. So could be a shakedown test (difficult to ascertain without the rest of the consist in view.

Worst case scenario is its an internal industry junket, whoops!

the driver open her right up and set off very fast it was quit surprised how long the pan bounced along  the canopy before braking

Perhaps! That is sometimes used as the Thunderbird siding.

Noticable that it's chocked though, not usual practice with 91s, normally just the parking brake would be used
