steve1
Thanks @Ralf The door rollers are part of the kit. I just painted them matt black and added a bit of rust. As for the handle, it was fitted by a short bloke. steve Edited February 6, 2021 by steve1 2

RMweb Gold Andrew D Posted February 12, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2021 Beautifully weathered, Steve! Something I am considering to cover the entrance to my box file fiddle yard. May I ask what you used to represent the chalked-on graffiti? Cheers!
steve1
Andrew, Thanks! I used a light grey watercolour pencil with a sharp point. The rusting was also done with watercolour pencils. steve 1
RMweb Gold Andrew D Posted February 12, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) Thanks Steve... more stuff for me to order! Genius. Next question (sorry). When applying the rust, do you use them wet or dry? Cheers! Edited February 12, 2021 by Andrew D
steve1
I did the rust with them damp to blend them together. The graffiti I did dry. The pencils came from https://www.cultpens.com Fantastic range, good prices and great service. steve 1
steve1
This one of the low relief “factory” units. All it needs now is the tank and pipework painting and weathering, prior to fitting. steve 3 1

steve1
Thanks to the generosity of fellow Bubwith Railway Modellers Goup & RMWeb member @iands the layout now has a base. The donated sheet was cut to size and primed on both sides. This is the bottom, which will be pained black. When dry, the two scenic boxes and the f/yard box will be screwed and glued to the base . Then the foam trackbed and rails can be laid. steve

Looking forward to developments and the finished model.
steve1
The boxes have now been glued to the wood base. steve
steve1
Quite a bit of progress since fitting the wood base: 1. Foam for fiddleyard track laid. 2. Interior of fiddleyard painted. (Yes, I know I should have done this before laying the foam. Masking tape to the rescue!) 3. Track cut to length. 4. Power wires soldered on rail ends. 5. Ally angle acquired from Homebase and a suitable length cut off. 6. Holes drilled in ally angle for a centre off switch and power socket. Also holes for mounting to baseboard. 7. Socket on order but switch already in stock. Image shows where things stand now. steve
Jerry1975
Just caught up with this Steve, it's looking great, I really like your low relief buildings. Jerry.
steve1
The fiddleyard tracks have now been laid and a start made on the wiring. Both tracks will be live, each with their own power switch to give operational flexibility. A second low relief warehouse has been added, plus some more concrete standing. steve Edited July 13, 2021 by steve1
steve1
The last warehouse takes shape. steve
steve1
This will be the lighting unit inside the last warehouse. The socket will be fixed to the back of the box so the battery holder can be stored safely when the layout is in transit. (Well in Peugeot really as it’s not big enough for a Transit…) steve
steve1
Thanks to the advice provided by @Judge Dreadthe layout is now wired up and, although it isn't pretty, it runs! Each road is wired through an on/off switch with a common power socket. I am thinking of some sort of cover for area up to tidy things up! steve PS Apologies for static images but I didn't have enough hands to do a video.

He's from a 1/72 NATO Ground Crew set I bought years ago. They have some good poses that make an interesting alternative to the usual figures. steve
