Popular Post micknich2003
I have scratch built for many a decade and almost exclusively in 4mm scale, for a change I thought of something bigger and decided on a 1/32 scale Gauge 1 ex H&BRly 0-4-0WT. The originals have been gone a century but a few photo's and damaged works drawings survive, the nearest actual engine is the ex GWRly 0-4-0ST at Didcot, there is also a narrow gauge tram version in the Hull museum. A few photo's of work so far attached. 18

CXW1
Looks good Mick. I recall you telling me a while ago that you were building a gauge one Class K so it is good to see some pictures. I look forward to seeing how you do the Kitson patent valve gear.... Cheers Chris
micknich2003
Chris, I now have the 4mm sq mild steel for the slide bars to hand, this needs milling to 2mm and one end turning and threading 8BA, I will then make a start on the valve gear. Gravy Train
Hi Mick, that is looking the business for sure, great modelling, can’t wait to see it completed, it’s a lovely prototype to model, without doubt and not one that can be had out of a box. mikemeg
Mick, Not my gauge but that doesn't stop me from admiring some excellent scratch building. As has already been said, an unusual prototype and some great model engineering. Regards Mike

Scorpio7uk
Something which might help you along..... I've added a couple of videos to my youtube channel from my visit to Didcot back in 2008 - shows the Cardiff Railway 1338 - might be useful to get the valve gear movement right (which as far as I can see is pretty much identical. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDff01DV0sCTUO5Z0mCVqfg and a few pictures:- Jeff

Scorpio7uk
I may as include these as well...... Cab details... That's pretty much all the pictures I took of that engine on the day - I'm sure I have a 'stripped down' shot as well from another time - I'll have a look.... Gravy Train
Wow Mick, it’s looking very technical is that now, way beyond anything I can do, it’s a different league altogether, can’t wait for the finished product. Peter
