Cab front installed with plasticard reinforcing strips.  The corners will be sanded to produce the rounded profile of the prototype.

Thanks, I recently tried to attach plastic sides to a coach and had great difficulty, ended up using epoxy and swearing.

Heavy work !  All looking very good , this glue " swearing" does activate glues to work quicker ? !!! :D.

As always sharp neat work and the etches have blended in well.   I look forward to more  progress - you do out strip my efforts but at least it encourages me to get on with it!

thanks for showing

Yes, but only when it’s in contact with your fingers...

So the swearing is the common issue!

(I've used that too, usually with track........)

Progress made on Railcar No.7 (or is it No.6).  Etched sides and cab front in place and Bachmann DMU motor and bogie shoehorned in.

Thanks Robert.  I have the other roof to do plus the interiors, door handrails and lining/decals.  Luckily I have a few of the Railtec UTA sheets to hand.

Cheers

Worsley Works provides etched door droplights for 4 No. doors per coach but there are 12 doors per coach.  I made sone more droplights from plasticard and pre-painted them along with the door hinges that I had omitted to fit.

The Dapol coach roofs are no longer clipped down and tend to bow upwards at mid-length.  To cure this I fixed laminated plasticard to each roof into which a long attachment bolt is tapped.  The bolt is a bit too long so a laminated plasticard block was fixed to the chassis underside to accommodate the extra bolt length.  Fortunately all is hidden by the side skirts.

Thanks Pat,

I have since sanded down and repainted the edges of the roofs as they looked a bit rough in the close-up pics.

Dapol use recycled plastic for these coaches and any over sanding tends to induce delamination so you have to sand sparingly.

Cheers

Great to see this set constructed and as usual you are doing a great job on it.  I'm surprised you had to make your own side skirts as there should be ones with the kit, there were when I did mine back in 2015.
