Love it all, i suppose a track plan is on old RM site! ariel view of depot is spot on! icon_thumbsup2.gif

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Here is a track plan... The lines on the right all join up. The green dotted lines show the position of The Mound Tunnels, while the blue dotted lines show the position of Waverley Bridge in the station area and the end of the scenic section on the other side of the layout. The whole layout measures about 5.1m x 2.0 - 2.4m.

Ragtag - yes, I can post some overall pics for you.

Phil - this is a "layout that never leaves home". I have submitted an article to Model Rail and I now understand from Ben Jones that it will be published in the January edition.

Cheers for now,

Dave

Hi again folks,

As a brief change from all things ScotRail, I've been improving one of my 50s, large logo 50044, which has now been deweathered and spruced up a little for a more frequent role as a railtour loco...

The 50 is looking great. I meant to ask you yesterday, I'm almost finished converting a DBSO of my own and was wondering what you'd used to glaze the cabs on yours?

Cue someone telling me these ploughs are wrong too... biggrin.gif

Ragtag - I used clear Plastikard sheet - Slater's Plastiglaz or similar. Note to self - must post those photos of the DBSOs....

Glad to find you on the new RMweb Dave. Like you, I have struggled a bit with the new look but I guess it will all become familiar eventually...

I may have missed references to layout dimensions on the old thread, but I had assumed Waverley West to be a lot bigger than the dimensions quoted with the trackplan. I hasten to add this is not a negative observation - I'd currently kill for that sort of space for a layout! What it does show is that you've incorporated a lot into the available space, but without it appearing in any way crowded.

It must be great fun to operate and it's good to see the shots of Haymarket with Deltics. Keep them coming please.

Hi folks,

Here are some pics of the DBSOs on the layout as promised.

This one was converted from an old Airfix Mk 2 using the Hurst kit (IIRC). It was one of my earlier efforts and really needs lights fitting. Another job on the list.

This is the ScotRail one, which I must admit I bought on e-bay. Again, it really needs lights fitting...

post-7247-12586487345746_thumb.jpg

I must admit a RTR Mk 2 DBSO to the standard of the new Hornby Mk 3 driving trailer would be very welcome.

At the other end is 47702, one of my trusty Heljan shove duffs and again one of my earlier efforts and in need of a little reworking and improvement...

The lighting is something I've been giving some thought to as well. I've finished my own with painted lights in the short term, but will be watching with interest to see if you decide to light yours. Deltics are looking great :)

Hi Dave,

Your photography just keeps getting better! That 27 and the shots of the 50 are simply stunning. I got to hear the Hornby class 50 sound last week at Harburn Hobbies and must say that I was impressed with it especially when idling and I'm sure would sound good on your layout!

Cheers Peter,

Thanks Peter, Mark and everyone.

I have 4 Deltics now -

55007 with Finsbury Park white window surrounds and later style windscreen wipers

55016 standard BR Blue

55021 standard BR Blue with domino headcodes

D9007 Original green - to be renumbered as D9009 in preserved green. That way I can still run a Deltic with Waverley West in Sector mode. biggrin.gif

All these have been reprogrammed and fitted with bass reflex speakers by SWD, which improves the sound incredibly. It's been a long wait to have the Deltics on the layout but I think it's been worth it.

ScotRail 37427 is about to emerge from the works after a partial respray. Trouble is, Waverley West has reverted to good old BR Blue while it's been in the works, so it doesn't really have a place on the layout just at the moment.

Not sure of my next project at the moment. Just a tidy up I think to start with after all my recent projects. The list of potential projects is too long to list here!

Cheers for now,

Dave

Hi Dave,

That sneaky taster photo of your layout will certainly make the next issue worth looking forward to already and I've not even read this months yet due to work! It will be great to see a diesel era layout as the main feature in the lead up to Model Rail Scotland! Just a shame it won't be there as it would be great to see it fir real so to speak!

Hi folks,

Thanks Ragtag. Yes, the article is now confirmed as being in the January issue.

Here are a few shots of the latest release from the Waverley West works, a partially resprayed Rails limited edition 37427 in ScotRail livery. I wasn't happy with the ScotRail/Regional Railways dark blue or the colour of the stripes, so I resprayed the blue and used Fox Transfers ScotRail stripes. Finished off with light weathering of course.

Currently in the works are a 25 being fitted with the latest SWD sound chip and working lights and my final Deltic for the time-being, being renumbered as green D9009 in preserved condition. Coming soon!

Dave

Hi Dave,

Cracking job on 37 427 - especially like the shots at speed! One of my favourite liveries really would like a 31 in it though like what I use to see in Barrow when I was younger! Keep up the great work as always.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi folks,

Thanks for the comments, guys. Much appreciated.

Peter - I don't think many 37s were painted in the ScotRail version of the RR livery - one or two at most.

7APT7 - have posted some more night shots below as requested. Some (many?) of these have been posted before on the previous RMWeb but I thought it would be good to put them on the new site too.

Re. other progress, I have now renumbered my green Deltic as D9009 and it is ready for light weathering as a railtour loco. 25083 has now been fitted with lights and an SWD sound chip and just needs some final weathering touches before release from the works. Hope to post some pics soon!

Happy Modelling!

Dave

Hi Dave,

If only a few 37s had that Scotrail liv its probably why I don't remember seeing it,biggrin.gif

Nice night pics, I am not sure I saw all of those before. Glad to hear you are getting a class 25 for Waverley they were quite common in the 80s.

Cheers Peter,
