Beryl (last seen on Dover Priory, Platform 1) stopped at the gate...well she would have done, if Arthur had got his act together and put the new gate on...  she  couldn't help but wonder if she'd forgotten something...

Whatever it was...

she had a thought it could be in the back garden...

For goodness sake Lee, that shed is fantastic! I keep looking at the ashpalt on my shed knowing that I need to replace it in the spring., I hope I do as neat a job as the one above! I love the concrete texture on the garage as well. :)

I know I keep pushing, it's greed really and thrill seeking, but is there going to be a veg garden?

That's what the plot of land is betwixt shed and t'garage....

Arthur has been raking it over, but he just needs to nip off and buy some compost now...

Inspired by Jeff's amazing drystone walls over on Kirby Luneside, I thought I'd have a go at a quicker, and less insane method...

The substrate is 3mm foamex and scribed to represent the stones. Gaps have been carved out and smaller pieces cut and placed at the foot.

I'm not happy with the painting, but I think the overall effect works.

Also not happy with the static grass, and I think I'll overwork this again when properly dry

And... if you're wondering, Flossy, the curious sheep was scratch made from foamex and cotton wool... :)

Goodness, that Beryl gets about a bit, doesn't she? Dover, West Yorkshire and now here she is spotted on Platform 15 at Edinburgh Waverley recently. I'm guessing that's a great grandchild she has with her. I wondered who she was and where she came from. Didn't realise she lived in West Yorkshire. She stills looks like she's trying to remember what she's forgotten though.

Nice, I like that.

The painting, I think it just needs some individual stones picked out - it's all a little uniform as it stands.

The grass, If you have it, I would use shorter fibres, 2mm if possible, as your main cover, and then build up longer fibres as a sparser addition.

In my purely subjective opinion, I tend to stay away from bright greens and orange / browns, and use the more muted colours available in static grass.

BUT, this is just MY opinion, and I know lots of modellers are perfectly happy with the brighter colours.

Nothing layout- related, but again thought I'd share some photos of another project I'm working on for someone else:

This is the North tunnel portal at the long-gone site of Denholm station on the Queensbury line.

Tunnel portal carved from foamex as my usual standard, and hillsides comprise of carved 50mm insulation foam (rocks carved from smaller pieces) and then covered in various scatters and static grasses.

The build of the tunnel portal itself took a couple of weeks on and off and the hillside structure took about the same, but the scenics took about 3 hours all told. Just shows what you can achieve when you put a shift in. Only got the South Portal to set into the landscape an then this little beauty can be despatched (although I'll be sad to see it go)
