Peak Photos and Memories

Recommended Posts

Here's a very young Penguin in the cab of 45070 at MC Metals in Glasgow prior to cutting.

I had seen her and another three of her classmates laid over at Darlington some weeks previous, so was happy to be able to pay my final respects on this occasion.

My favourite Peak happens to be 45041 and forms part of a happy memory of me and dad trainspotting in my home town of Bridlington in the latter half of the 70's.

Cheers.

Sean.

For those into Peaks, watch out for Looking back at Peaks which will be out in the next thirty days. Inside there are over 150 colour photographs, covering all of the named locomotives, livery variations, nameplate designs, from their introduction until they were taken out of service, ie no preserved pics to pad out the book.

Hmmmn.

The penguin has a birthday coming up in May.

Just need to wait for Mrs Penguin to ask if there's anything in particular I'd like this year.

A wu ha ha ha hah.....

Cheers.

A few shots from the Great Central diesel gala, March 29 2014

Growing up next to the Midland mainline in Bedfordshire these machines were a particular favourite of mine,45 144 Royal Signals being a common sight on the down binliners past my work carpark in the mornings.

The DVD "St pancras suburban" by transport video publishing of Wheathampstead is recommended viewing!!

Morning all, good to see a thread covering the 'Peaks'. These locos were a staple diet for me in the 1970's and 80's on the NE/SW line through Brumagem. Great to see the 2 x 45's out last weekend on the GC as well, thanks to all involved in putting this gala on. 45041 on the 'Postal' at Quorn on Sunday morning was a particular highlight!

If you hover over the photos the data should appear! Andy
