TEAMYAKIMA
Have been weathering the hotel ................ the r/h side is weathered ......... the l/h side is as originally painted .....
TEAMYAKIMA
As well as working on the hotel I was also tracklaying yesterday ............... Three out of four tracks are now complete .... this photo is taken from the operators side ... in the distance is the bi-directional regional line, then in the middle are the two China Rail lines .... in the foreground is the industrial line which is incomplete ... as you can see!
TEAMYAKIMA
So here is the hotel this morning ... the pale blue in the windows is purely the backing sheet of the glazing - yet to be peeled off... You will notice an (unwanted) column of square windows above the entrance doors ... they will be hidden eventually by something like these...
TEAMYAKIMA
Have picked up a new technique for frosted windows (from RMweb) and used it today on the hotel.... have completed the l/h side....
Al.
Looking good Paul. Good to see more track going down too. You mentioned a while back that you were going to put an incline onto the industrial line. Is this still the plan?
TEAMYAKIMA
Hi Al Yes, once I've worked out the radius. The main problem is that there isn't much visible track between the last turnout and your bridge. Ideally I/we need the bridge in situ to see how the track might look. Al.
Going to have to find time to get over.
TEAMYAKIMA
Yesterday Al managed a site visit ........... He brought part of his bridge for a test fitting now that three of the tracks are laid ....... this photo is taken from the public viewing side The bridge is a large motorway bridge 'under construction' Al's visit highlighted the fact that the industrial line had not been laid ( there is an odd piece of PECO track just sitting where the track will go) Now 24 hours later and Al's visit has inspired/shamed me into starting to lay the last 6ft of track where the industrial line leaves the scenic area and heads off into the fiddle yard....... I've turned the boards around in the shed and so this photo is taken from the operator's side
Al.
Good to see the industrial line going down. I see you've laid it straight onto the board. Have you dropped the idea of an incline?
TEAMYAKIMA
Good to see the industrial line going down. I see you've laid it straight onto the board. Have you dropped the idea of an incline? Hi Al No, I am working on the gradient right now .... here is the latest photo of progress so far .....

TEAMYAKIMA
At last! Except for the odd dead end overgrown unused siding all track has been laid!! And here's proof .... A coal train heading for the steelworks (off scene) is climbing up the branch at 1 in 35 , it then goes into the fiddle yard where it drops down again to datum on a gentler grade.
TEAMYAKIMA
I've turned the board around to see how things will look from the viewing side .... I've mocked up 'the bridge' to give some idea of what will be seen and what won't.
TEAMYAKIMA
Here are some pre-production photos of my latest purchase ... a steam crane Unfortunately, I can't fit a loco depot on this layout - maybe the next! Will make a small loco depot diorama to take to exhibitions. Edited December 2, 2015 by TEAMYAKIMA
TEAMYAKIMA
China type 22 coaches run in (at least) three slightly different green liveries. Just to illustrate the three different liveries ..... Edited January 6, 2016 by TEAMYAKIMA

Brian Hawkins
Hi Paul, hoping to visit the St Albans show in January if work permits, it'll be good to meet up, must check my diary first.
TEAMYAKIMA
I regret very little progress on the layout itself ... just a bit of FY wiring ... and not THAT much of that! But behind the scenes have made progress..... have made up one industrial rake of 4 x YZ hard class seated coaches which can be heavily weathered for the steelworks workers train ... all dark green and cream stripesPlus a 10 car passenger car train for the regional bi-directional line ... 3 x YZ , 1 x CA, 2 x RW, 3 x YW and 1 x UZ ... all in Dark green with yellow stripes. TEAMYAKIMA
I have nine days off work and plan to tackle various issues. #1 is sorting out my digital photos into some kind of order ..... and that will include deleting many! #2 is sorting out the modelling room .... and the shed! #3 is doing more wiring .... Here is the first 'completed' FY board .... I know very little about DCC wiring but have wired it as four distinct areas .... each representing a circuit of track and associated fiddle yard .... TEAMYAKIMA
All wiring on the four main FY boards now completed ..... have been completing various tasks including preparing for the St Albans show in 10 days time. I will be helped by my two collaborators ... Al (Remagen) Turner on Saturday and Peter Morgan on Sunday Is anyone coming along? Please say 'hello'. BTW .... I am still looking to buy/swap Bachmann type 22 coaches ... I am only looking for DARK green and bright yellow stripes ... the middle version in post # 290. I'm looking to buy 1 x XL , 1 x YZ and 1 x YW or swap as I have three YW (cat # CP00539) which all of course have the same running number and would like to swap with someone if possible to give some variety. Do YOU have a DARK green / yellow striping YW that you would be prepared to swap? Please send me a PM. I've discovered that the ones I'm looking for are any of CP00517, CP00519, CP00527, CP00529 or CP00531 .... those are all without lights .... versions with lights would be CP00518, CP00520, CP00528, CP00530 or CP00532 .............. I prefer no lights but would consider lighted versions. Paul Edited January 6, 2016 by TEAMYAKIMA
TEAMYAKIMA
A demo weekend at St Albans resulted in some more work (by Peter) on the building site.... Photo 1 shows the size of the building against a ruler and neighbouring buildings Photo 2 .... the staircases are yet to be finalised and are moveable at the moment
RMweb Gold SHMD Posted January 20, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2016 Looking excellent. This would be ideal for one of those blue LED "arc welding" gizmos positioned inside one of the middle floors to simulate work being done but with no moving parts. Any plans for a tower crane to hover over the project? Kev.
TEAMYAKIMA
Looking excellent. Any plans for a tower crane to hover over the project? Kev. The entire r/h end of the layout is a building site and I believe there will be a tower crane somewhere in the overall scene ..... I can't say exactly where as this end of the layout has been 'sub-contracted' to Al who is making the motorway bridge and Peter who is making the office block. Meanwhile, back at the St Albans show I made a new wagon load ..... Edited January 20, 2016 by TEAMYAKIMA
Al.
For my part at St Albans I got down to making some road vehicles. These are two Kibri 8 wheel tippers kits modified to look like Chinese manufactured Futon trucks. Reg plates and other lettering to add then they'll get weathered. Cement mixer, mobile crane and a couple of artics to follow. Edited January 20, 2016 by Al.
