Just been working on doing exactly that using 2mm tower LED's. Will post some photos on my Laoson Valley thread over the next few days.

Not progressed the lighting on my RTOV as much as hoped yet, but here's a couple of pic's to give you an idea of what I'm doing.

 

2MM tower LED's, painted black to cut down light bleed, then glued together.

I had to use a Dremmel to reduce some of the thickness of the coach sides to fit the LED's in

Ive started to blank off few of my windows,on some old Lima coaches.

Ready for another batch of network rail stock..

Ive used some "standard" easy sand car body filler for this job in hand..

Ive lightly sprayed these coaches up with grey Halfords plastic primer..
