Location map
25th & 26th September 2010
Saturday 10.30hrs - 18.00hrs
Sunday 10.00hrs - 16.30hrs
Admission for both days: Scalefour Society Members:£4.50
Others: £7.50
Partners & accompanied children free.
Organisation for Scaleforum 2010 is already well underway, and this year we are bringing a number of new features and old favourites to the show.
Our aim, as always, is to provide an event with an atmosphere of enjoyment, education and inspiration, and we invite you to attend both days if you possibly can.
Scaleforum is much more than a typical model railway exhibition. There are:
Workshops covering topics as diverse as soldering to suspension Inspirational layouts of all types and sizes A "Society Area" to chat about finescale modelling The renowned "Bring and Buy" stand An unsurpassed collection of finescale manufacturers and traders
Layouts
Horsley Bank
An industrial shunting layout by Stephen Howe, showing what can be achieved in a small space
Moor Street
A BR transition-era model of the second Western Region station in Birmingham, still showing much of the character of its GWR Edwardian origins. This layout was Highly Commended in the Scalefour Society's Diesel & Electric Challenge
St. Merryn
Built by the South London Area Group of the Scalefour Society, this is a depiction of British Railways in the 1950s in a fictitious Cornish location
Rolvenden
Based on the station of that name on the Kent & East Sussex Railway, this layout by Robin Gay depicts the line as it was in the 1920s. This is another layout having its first showing at Scaleforum
Wheal Elizabeth
The runner-up in the Scalefour Society's Diesel & Electric Challenge, Andrew Ullyott's layout showing the British Railways activity at a Cornish china clay works between 1958 and 1980 makes a very welcome return to Scaleforum
Brighton Road
A new layout from the Mid-Sussex area group - of Pulborough fame. Set somewhere in South London the layout features a high level four track main line along the back which splits into two towards one end. On the lower level a large freight marshalling yard where trains from various pre-grouping companies are re-formed for onward travel, a local goods yard, brewery and saw mill
Blackfriars Bridge
Blackfriars Bridge is a pre-grouping period piece of the little modeled LCDR set around 1873 and features the first LCDR station in London. A work in progress by P4 modellers from the Beckenham and West Wickham MRC
Portchullin
Portchullin, by Mark Tatlow, was the overall winner of the Scalefour Society's D&E Challenge and shows a superb depiction of a station in the Scottish Highlands in the "blue" period of British Rail
Matford
Another layout making its first visit to Scaleforum, Peter Archard and John Farmer bring a contemporary feel to the show with their fictitious location in the Exeter area in the post-privatisation period of 2005/6
Visiting Society
We are very pleased to welcome the S Scale Society as a finescale visitor to Scaleforum. Supporting the stand of the S Scale Society and showing what can be achieved through scratch building, we have Bank Hall Sidings, a minimum space layout of a small good yard.
Traders
Scaleforum probably has the best trade section for the fine scale and scratch builder of any exhibition in the South East covering everything from baseboards to the finest scenic details and everything in between. Some traders will be found in the Mole Barn and the remainder on the first floor.

Demonstrations
An exciting new concept will shape the demonstrations during Scaleforum 2010. Moving away from the idea of demonstrating individual specialisms, this year the Scalefour Society acknowledges that modellers follow specific periods, and to match this our skilled demonstrators will be showing all aspects of modelling in specific periods.
Modelling the pre-grouping railway - Martin Nield supported by the L&Y Society stand
Modelling the early BR period - Robin Whittle and the Glevum group
Modelling the D&E period - Mike Anson
Also, of particular interest to those wondering what P4 is all about, two valuable demonstrations will take place.
"Getting started in P4" - Gordon Ashton
"Saving techniques for modellers". Saving weight, time and money. Easy ways to build lightweight structures, time saving jigs, using sub assemblies for easy maintenance. A range of cheap and effective solutions from a lifetime of finescale modelling. - Allan Goodwillie
Travel
Getting to Leatherhead is very easy - good access from the motorway network and efficient train services direct to Leatherhead make it simple to get there. If travelling by road, free parking is available on-site.
For further travel details, please e-mail [email protected]
Access for Disabled Visitors
Wheelchair users are very welcome at Scaleforum. The halls are laid out with wide aisles between exhibits and no barriers to layouts.

WMRA Annual Exhibition
By Robin Brasher,
Excellent show. plenty of free parking, over 30 layouts, lots of traders and full catering. I liked the scenery on the illustrated 009 gauge Feorag layout set in an imaginary island west of Cornwall. TT:120 seems to be well received with two small oval layouts on display.

Macclesfield Model Railway Group's Annual Exhibition ( PLEASE NOTE: NEW VENUE!!!! )
By Merfyn Jones,
I was there for a MBF meeting/exhibition last Saturday. Excelent hall with all the facilities you need.
The bus from the station was a very good help for those that want to come by train rather than drive.
