RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted June 23, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 23, 2015 I have written a topic describing the stone train returning to Eccles Road, this topic displays more detailed photos of the wagons used (for road stone). There are 16 wagons in total so it might take a few days to get all the photos on ! 33 70 6790 078-3 Edit to add
pharrc20
Those faded numbers white on grey/almost white are a sod to read at distance especially like today at Peak Forest! Cheers Paul
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted June 25, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 25, 2015 That's why it's taking time to add the rest of the photos - trying to establish the wagon numbers was a pain. There should be a big update tonight
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted June 25, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 25, 2015 Ok - time for the update - hopefully I've got these right, as Paul eludes to above it's bl**dy hard to read the numbers on some, even when standing next to them and - and this was my mistake - I didn't pay enough attention to which wagon I was photographing so sometimes I would move to the next and then realise I'd forgotten to take a 3/4 of the previous wagon so whilst I think they are correctly number please take them with a slight pinch of salt 33 70 6790 002-3 - this is the only wagon that I took a lot of detail shots of.

Peter Kazmierczak
And not a sign of graffiti on them! Glad I don't collect wagon numbers anymore - wouldn't know where to start with these. A real labour of love from Dave - many thanks.
Grizz
Beast66606 I’ve only just found this thread, thanks so much taking the time to document these wagons in such detail. I’m currently scratch building 10, using styrene sheet and Evergreen sections etc, using John L Fox’s excellent book Railway Wagon Plans 1960s to the Present. I’ve previously built 2 of these JRAs using but only ever got round to doing the two. Your photos are fantastic because they help to give the 3D image to the 2D drawings. My previous efforts….. Cheers, Grizz.
Mark Saunders
They really look good and capture te feel of the original, especially as they are now well traveled in various traffics!
hmrspaul
Touax appear to have removed the ladders fairly recently. https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/ferrytiphookaggregatebox Paul
Mark Saunders
Ladders are disappearing off many wagons probably due to the recent changes in working at height regulations! The second batch of Freightliner (G&W livery) MWA’s have none and the first batch in green have had them removed!

Might it be more to do with a perceived risk of unauthorised persons finding themselves in proximity to overhead wagons?
