HOm Catenary

Hi

I'm ready to purchase a small amount of Sommerfeldt catenary for a modest HOm layout. I've settled on catalogue nr.380 for the masts but am pondering on which of the 0.5mm wire sets would be suitable. Could anyone advise? I'm thinking of fitting the masts at around 380mm pitch. The aim is to experiment and end up with something visually acceptable. In one area I may want to span two tracks for a short distance, i.e. into a twin track locomotive shed. Also, could anyone recommend where to purchase ?

Many thanks, Steve

Blackwells   of  Hawkwell   if   you google  Sommerfeld  that  will bring  it  up

I have  used  Sommerfeld Cat. on some   layouts,  you need  patience  and  a  steady  hand   but  the  results  are  rewarding,  until  that  is  you  forget  about  the  OHL and wreck a section with  a  careless hand!!

Hi everybody.

I'm Antonio from Italy. I'm new of this forum. I was going around reading some post and I found this one.

I hope that nobody blame me if I resume this post.

In my layout, I have a little section of an imaginary little station of RhB net during era III/IV. Obviously, there is the catenary. Since I found the Sommerfeldt a little bit out of time respect to the quality of the contemporary modeling style, I try for some scratchbuilt components...

Now I'm working on the switching mast (schaltposten, in German), trying to understood how it works.

Cheers

Antonio

Nice bit of modelling, neat soldering.

Hi everybody. Some news on the job.

Some times ago i prepared some components in lost wax brass cast. The masters are designed in 3D and printed by shapeways. They are isolators, switches and the auxiliary transformer.

Apart the last components, all the other devices are for the "schaltposten". Regarding this, I have no picture or drawings about the manual leverage that moves the switches. I studied a current schaltposten personally, during a little holiday. But no image about the older version that I'm building.

Anyone can help?

Thanks in advance, best regards, Merry Christmas and happy new year to everybody.

Antonio

Hi all.

I do some jobs on the switching mast. I've used some brass profiles and some copper wire from a 35 square mm grounding cable.

Some pictures will show you the work.

Unfortunately, I do not find any pictures for the manual leverage of the switches.

Anyone can help?

Thanks, merry Christmas and happy new year to everybody.
