gordon s
The road through Spencers Wood (Reading) has been shut for the last week, so I have been exploring back roads to find my way round. Whilst driving through Swallowfield, I saw a railway signal (not shown in this pic) and a garage door with a painted mural of a Southern Loco in full steam. As an LNER man, I'm not sure if it's a West Country or Battle of Britain loco, but you get the gist. Clearly an avid railway man, who could be a member here…. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.380146,-0.959573,3a,37.5y,44.35h,83.71t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s0LiR3xXmVXbi1m8NM5_8Gg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
RMweb Gold RFS Posted August 8, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 8, 2015 It's a Battle of Britain loco, as the shield located below the name.
Ian Abel
Apparently it's "257 Squadron", the owner a one Max Bowker and painter for him by a friend and local artist Brian matravers - see the explanation below from "Eccentric Britain", by Benedict Le Vay... gordon s
The power of the internet never ceases to amaze me. A few clicks from Ian in Edina in the US several thousand miles away and all becomes clear. I wonder if there is a garden railway or model to go with it? Off to check satellite view…:-)
AndyID
Off to check satellite view…:-) You also might want to take a closer look at those rather large dragonflies we are controlling that just happen to be in your neighborhood.
