Jonny's Dodgy Quality (Mostly Cardiff) Photos

Recommended Posts

What is the Green vehicle in-between the Rover and the Austin ?

Is it a Saab ?

VW 1600, but whether it's a TL or a TS I can't tell. I had several and they were surprisingly fast but suffered from light front ends. There was also an Estate version made called the Variant, spartan but extremely practical. The saloon versions looked just plain odd....

Similarly, this was added to the 1990s steelworks thread, but deserves a second showing on here.

I apologise for creating a dome fitted class 37, but my ability to see the finished photo was not always as thorough as it ought to have been with sudden approach of trains on the through lines.

Just before Christmas we had a new living room carpet fitted. This meant moving almost every item of furniture out of the room in order to take up the old carpet and underlay, in preparation for the fitters to put in the new one.

With umpteen boxes dumped in various bedrooms I felt as though I was moving house, and had cables and hardware randomly distributed in the boxes over the festive season, but I am beginning to get back to normal now; and things are returning to their rightful places.

Thus, more slides from Cardiff in the ~1980s can be given the light of day.

50018 presumably on ecs in 1983, but the passengers don't mind as their HST can be seen extreme right entering platform 3.

  • 3 months later...

Not Cardiff again, but I have just won this slide online and thought that it made such a great example for modelling purposes that I would share it here.

This is 76053 on a Bournemouth to Southampton local stopper on 5th August 1965 at Southampton Central.

Looks like the poor loco didn't have much longer left in this life! (It lasted until Jan 67)

Somewhat careworn for a 10 year old loco.

No shed code either, should be 70D

Nicely mixed rake of stock.

Cheers

Keith
