Class 86 BR Blue Roof Colours

I know this is going to be controversial for those interested but can anyone suggest what paint colour I use for the main roof of a BR Blue era Class 86?

 

I am in the process of repainting a 2004 Hornby model and cannot make out from any prototype images/pics what colour they are. Iis it a light grey and if so which rail colour?  Or is it a faded aluminium?

 

The original Hornby model appears to be factory painted a light grey.

 

I am using Lifecolor Rail Blue and Precision Paints Warning Yellow for the cabs. 

 

Any help much appreciated.

otherwise the grey indicated would be fine based on this photo.

I'd imagine it's very far off the 'pearl grey' shade used on the upper half of blue / grey coaching stock of the period, which become darker over time due to weathering etc.

I'd imagine dirt with added carbon would be your best bet.

Subsidiary question, are the inside end of the cab roofs blue or the well colour?

Inside ends of cab roofs are well colour.

 

Never seen a hint of shinyness associated with aluminium. A light grey suitably weathered should do it.

"Aircraft Grey" is another name I've heard used. There are also fibreglass panels over the walkways to let light through, although these were often painted over.
