AMJ
Has anyone ever considered making a model of the famous diamonds and points at the east end of Newcastle station? Adding in the third rail pickups for the Tyneside electrics would make a very complex track plan! http://www.picturesofgateshead.co.uk/postcards_newcastle1/opcn47w.jpg
blueeighties
Not quite, but my club is about to embark on Gateshead mpd in 00 SF which is going to prove quite a challenge!

It's my dream layout to do in P4 but would require a lottery win... John
RMweb Gold D9020 Nimbus Posted September 4, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 4, 2015 The current layout would be a lot easier to do...
RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted September 4, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 4, 2015 I look forward too following any thread where the OP is going to build that S & C in any scale or gauge.
johndon
The current layout would be a lot easier to do... But no where near as interesting. I do fancy trying to create the track plan in Templot. John
blueeighties
Good luck with your sanity John! I commisioned a chap well versed in Templot to produce the GD plan, he had a tough time with the diamonds at the old Gateshead station end. I wouldn't like to even contemplate the Newcastle diamonds, but it certainly would be a sight to behold.

Building it is something I would love to do...I have a complex track fetish... but working out how to do the electrics would give me nightmares! DCC, only two wires or so I am told. No need for hat or coat, and I will leave the door open in this warm weather.
PatB
According to the Graham Farish ad that used to appear on the back of the Railway Modeller*, you can build it in Formoway . *A long time ago and before laws on misleading advertising were tightened, presumably . Stephen Freeman
Hi, I always thought the photos used in the Formoway adverts were of somewhere else, Crewe I think and possibly the model of Rugeley TV. However, such crossings are an electrical nightmare. I did build a double track right angle crossing for a chap in the USA in 0 Gauge a couple of years ago and the only practical solution was to use Frog Juicers. Fortunately he was using DCC anyway. dessire_luvals
http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/37186-barnstaple-junction-in-em-gauge/ only needed one extra relay to provide an extra pair of contacts, everything else was via the point point motors.
